Hi all

I am writing this to see if u have a view on this but before I carry on please let me tell you that although I am asking this on here I will also be going to the docs with J as soon as I can get her an appointment.

Anyway for the last week my little girl bless her has been coughing at night and in the morning but it is only at night and morning and not durng the day. She does not appear to have any other cold like symptom so i'm thinking it perhaps could be asthma as I have asthma and apparantly it can be hereditry, my sister has asthma and my mother also so it does run in the family. I have looked it up on a few websites namly an asthma specialist website and also the nhs website and on there it states that one of the common symtoms with children is coughing especially at night. She does not appear to be short of breath though but saying that I don't get that very often myself but more so tight crushing pains in my chest which has been confirmed as asthma. Any views???

Could be asthma - I've been worried about DS as he's an awful nighttime cougher and is quite 'chesty' in the day. He'll cough until he's sick :( My sister was the same and she is asthmatic as is my mum. DD has excema and I think they're linked. They wont diagnose asthma until they're 2 I was told, but my doc is going to start monitoring DS now and we're going to discuss this on Tuesday when I see him.
 As I know how distressing it is listening to them coughing badly in the night.

Hi Kina

I really not sure whats going on with her but she seemed much better tonight going to bed and didnt cough that much and hasnt woken up coughing as of yet but the night is still young. I took her to a stupid locum doctor this morning who acted as though I was just some strange weired mother worrying over nothing and he put it down to yet anothe viral infection, i'm sure doctors love using that term with kids and their mums. He didnt give her any medication just told me to give her calpol if nec and see how she goes so I will LOL. good luck with your little one.

All I ever got told, was not too much central heating! That sets my little lad off, he used to get it it alot at night, so now just turn the heating off. odd times vapour rub in hot water out or reach helps clears it too.
