constipation

i think noa is constipated, can he be when breasrfeed?
he used to poo all the time but last 3 days hes just done it once a day! n he keep pushing n looks uncomfy now n again without resoult. he is not really unhappy so i dont think hes in pain but what can i do to help him? hes letting out alot more wind then before aswell

Hi ya he can breast fed..My son is also being constipated but he is mix fed. The HV told me babies can go up to 10 days if they are exclusively breast fed. She asked me to give him cool boiled water which helped. Also massaging his stomach and moving his legs also helped..unfortunately it was aptamil which was causing him constipation so I moved to comfort milk and giving lactolose which is helping..try all these things I am sure they will help him...good luck

oscar used to poo about 5 times a day then fron about 8 weeks it was more like 1ce a week. It wasn't constipation, its just what happens apparently. worried me sick though xx

Yea, I don't know why they go so long without pooing, maybe it's cos their tummys get bigger?? I'd say once a day is normal x

Blake poos about 8 times a day (like his Dad!) but my sis has been breastfeeding her baby, she started to go days without her pooing. It's all normal apparently and HV said not to be alarmed if he stops pooing as much.

tegan only goes once every 3-4 days my HV said aslong as irs not hard when they do go its ok xx

Isla hasn't poo'd since Friday night. She is farting loads with bits of poop in it (they will hate us when they are older for talking like this!)

Our babs only goes every 2 to 3 days and mw said its totally normal. He is such a good baby and never cries, but sometimes like you expained he looks to be pushing with no result and gets a bit upset. MW and HV said it was ok to give him an oz of boiled water before each feed. I do this before his night feed if its been a few days and usually by the morning we have a BIG SLOPPY poo and Aiden seems to like the water too. x
