I've had it since I had little Jessica on Saturday... and still suffering... will Fibergel, or something else work... and will it be ..TMI.. sorry  of a non-solid consistency?
Lots of stitches to worry about down there... and I think sub-consiousuly I don't want to actually go!

Fanks ladies.

It took me a few days to go, even though i knew my stitches wouldnt break i still couldnt go. Then the pressure was so immense down there i just went and sat on the loo with a wad of tissue against my stitches and waited. It took a while but once i had gone i felt so much better.

I had been eating my weetabix every day as normal but i think it was more of a mental thing for me.

If you really are struggling to go, maybe try the fibergel out. Once you have gone to the loo for the first time it should be a lot easier from then on.

i had trouble going when i was still in hospital (they kept me in for 4 days) they gave me lactose which definately helped lol but it was terrible i was scared to go to but when that stuff kicked in i had no choice. i couldnt even try and hold it in coz all that area was totally knackered from labour lol dont think i was functioning properly had to leg it or waddle for it coz i was so stiff from the epi! haha must of looked like a right wally looking back now... :rotfl:

Id go to the chemist and try get something. might make you poo like ya baby but the sooner you get it out the way the better!

I think it's a mental thing, definitely. Only took me 2 or 3 days to go and took the midwife's advice and held a pad on my stitches. To be honest it hurt more holding it in than doing it! Was there for a good 15 minutes, OH actually came looking for me. I was so pleased with myself and kept telling everyone how chuffed I was :rotfl: .

i took senna max strength before i went to bed, and when i got up i didnt have a choice :rotfl:

i was soo scared of going and waited about 5 days i think

Your stitches aren't going to split and it's not going to hurt terribly, I promise. You've just been through labour and that hurts! Now you know what real pain is a little poo isn't going to hurt half as much. Just sit and wait for it to come down, - take a book in with you lol. Don't push. You'll be fine.

It won't hurt to take a laxative if you feel you need one but it sounds like you need to relax and just let it happen. I promise you'll feel much more comfortable afterwards. x

I agree, take your time and let your body push it out for you, if you sit there and try and relax it wont hurt like you think its going to. You will feel soooo much better after!!

I'm still a bit constipated. My midwife has recommended pressed apple juice - e.g. Copella. Haven't tried it yet mind you, our pickle has kept us too busy to get to Tesco!

You could try prunes, or prune juice. I remember being scared too, but the midwife in hospital told me in no uncertain terms, that if I didn't do it, it would be like giving birth all over again! Aren't some of them just lovely? so that did force me into it, but don't worry, it wasn't that bad. hope things get moving soon
