We've just started this evening to put Connor up to bed in his moses basket in our room after this 7.00pm feed.

I'm now sitting in the living room, staring at the baby monitor and asking Hubby to go up every 5 mins to check him!!

8.30pm - Connor flat out on back with dummy fast asleep!!! Mummy in living room practically in tears drinking red wine.

I Never thought I'd feel like this, he's only 20 feet away upstairs and I feel AWFUL!!!

Shaz, he will be fine hunny

Ruby went into her nursery from the first week, we have a video monior in living room which we check all the time...she settled so well and is now dream. She goes down after 6.30pm feed/bath and we wake her at 11pm for a feed..she goes down then unitl 4am, then 7am. She always settles as well, and I feel so lucky.

OH and I have a few hours each night to have tea, and spend a bit of us time while sleeping beauty is in bed

Enjoy your wine and dont feel bad, he will be just fine xxx

Personally feel you are doing totally the right thing. We started doing this with Rowan at 2 weeks and I was exactly the same as you Shaz but now he sleeps really well and it is better for you both as he gets into a routine and you get some important relaxation time although admittedly you are not relaxed at the moment but give it time

How did he sleep for you Shaz? I had a really bad night night last night so i was wondering if to start this myself yet. I have only had like 1 hours sleep all night and i feel terrible today. How long is Connor awake in the day now? I still feel Nathan is sleeping to much in the day and that might be the problem.

Hi Kellie - hope Nathan is doing well apart from the sleeping.

It was an interesting night - we put him upstairs to bed at 800pm (well hubby did because I was sitting on the sofa being all neurotic!). He took at good 4oz of feed and then OH put him down (with dummy) and he pretty much went straight off.

Woke up at 10.30 and we gave him another 4oz and then went upstairs to bed ourselves. He took a few minutes to settle (with dummy) and went off again.

Woke up 12.00, was fitful but went back to sleep and then woke up and got fed again until 2.30am - OH did all these feeds for me.

Then he woke up at 5.15am and I got up to feed him and he only took 2oz, then dropped off to sleep so I slunk him back upstairs into the moses basket and he fussed for ages, spitting the dummy out and mucking around. Nodded off eventually and then woke up again at 7.00 so I took him downstairs, he had another 4oz feed, slept again until 9.30/10.00 ish.

So all in all he should be getting fed every two hours, but it takes an hour to feed him, then he's taking a while to settle before nodding off again.

I think he's a bit constipated as well. We've had lots of wet nappies, but the last dirty one we had was yesterday afternoon so I've given him some cooled boiled water to loosen things up. He sounded like he was straining quite a bit last night while we were trying to settle him. Maybe he's got a bit of a tummy ache???

Sorry

During the day he's pretty much in the same routine - feeds every two hours or so, takes about an hour to feed, but he's staying awake for about 30 mins after each feed and we're trying to play with him a lot so he learns that daylight is OK to be awake in, but at night-time he needs to sleep!!!

I think it's a good thing that you put him to bed on his own. Ive done it a few times myself but I don't do it all the time, I am goin start doing it though. I find Aaliyah gets woken up alot by house noises when shes asleep in her bouncer downstairs. I am going to do it at 10:30pm though after her last bottle.

and OUCH...he feeds every 2 hours? omg i'd die lol...Aaliyah's always gone 3-4 hours and sleeps from 10:30 to 6:30 without a feed.

U superwoman lol! I couldn't imagine feeding a baby every 2 hours.
