Anyone else had this?

When i tense my stomach/abs my bump goes pointed or like... The roof of a house haha . For instance if i tense to sit up or lay down or general ab tense

I dont kniw why? I wondered if its related to split abs from my first pregnancy . or if they have split again already (31 weeks)

Mine looks a bit cone shaped as I’m getting up and then back to normal bump when I relax my muscles. I didn’t have split abs with my first. I think it’s just the tensing that causes it.

Yes! At our physio class they described exactly that, due to the splitting of muscles. I'd maybe ask for physio referral?

Mine does this too.

I thought it was just way baby is positioned? Gah, I don't want dodgy stomach muscles to add to my list of pregnancy war wounds. My poor body has suffered enough

X

I was told by the midwife that this happens during every pregnancy and is very normal. She also said not to go tensing those muscles during pregnancy as they are stretched out - wait until after x

Hi, as above I am pretty sure this is once the stomach muscles have separated hence the cone shape between the side muscles. I had it a little during first pregnancy but my daughter ended up being HUGE 9lb 8oz and I had 8cm of separation by the end. This time I have had the cone shape if I lay on my back and try and get up straight to sitting since very early on. I am already registered with a pilates teacher who specialises in post-partem repair for when baby has arrived.

Thanks guys, it looks like opinion is divided on whether this is split muscles or not. I think I had just about repaired mine since last baby, or down to 1-2 cm or less so it could be that or not don't know.

I must say though, I feel like i'm forever tensing those muscles, i don't know if its all the running about after my toddler! I also find it super hard not to really stretch out in the morning especially after occasional cramped/twisted co sleeping while my toddler isn't very well.

I was under the impression that everyone got this to some degree x
