I just wondered, has anyone ever had a cone biopsy to remove cervical pre-cancerous cells, and gone on to have a full term pregnancy?

I just realised i've had two cone biopsies about 8 years ago, and have read that it can result in an incompetent cervix, which basically means you can miscarry in 2nd tri, or have a prem birth. Anyone know anyone about this? I 'm a bit worried but will mention is to my midwife when i meet her next month.

if it's not one thing, it's another.....

I have no idea, but didnt want to read and run.
I had pre cancerous cells removed last year using the loop method, you've got me wondering now if that can cause problems with my cervix. The midwife knows about it and has written it in my notes but nothing has been said about it.
Hope someone can help you

I had one about 7yrs ago. My doc said that sometimes you may need a stitch putting in your cervix until about 36wks PG then have it removed but that that is very rare.

I was worrying that me having the cone biopsy
was stopping me getting PG in the first place but now I see that people do get PG after having one done I feel better

I had one about 9 years ago and it has caused no problems for me whatsoever. Carried my first baby to 41 weeks and now almost 36 weeks with my second. TBH I wasnt even aware it could affect a pregnancy, but depends I suppose on the position of the biopsy, how well it has healed etc. It was never an issue for me though, but if you are worried then obviously speak to your doc or mw about it who will know your own circumstances and intimate health better than us lot! Im sure you will be fine though, it was a long time ago
