Okay, i have just had a phone call to say my fiance's grandma has developed shingles, and we saw her last week, so would i need testing for it???
I have searched online and from what i can see if i had chickenpox as a child then me and the baby will not be at risk. Does anyone know????

my dad just had it and i stayed with him...its fine if you have had chicken pox. Its not contagious like CP as it comes from when the person had CP before, only avoid contact if u know u have never had it

Did you ring your midwife to ask annaR2B, i have looked on nhs website and thats what it says but cant help worrying.

Yes i rang my doctor as i knew i'd be spending time with him. He was v reassuring...dad got it from being tired and stressed, the old bug just came back out in him. My mum told me i'd had CP so i didn't worry. That was when i was 20 odd weeks...i'm fine!!

I am a carer and when i was about 25 weeks pregnant one of the ladies i went to got shingles.. I rang NHS direct about it as i was worried and they said as long as u have had chicken pox then its fine.. and i could still go in there

I'm a shingles expert as I had it in December!

Any questions let me know, but the short answer is you can only catch chicken pox from shingles, so it you've had it your fine.
