Me and Caitlyn have taken to morning walks. She'll actually walk the whole way and we're out for 45 minutes to and hour. I had her in a snowsuit last night to watch the fireworks but in the morning she has on 2 vests, a top, a coat, tights, socks, jeans and boots that are fury inside. And mittens if I can get her to keep them on

Do you think that's alright for this weather, we're going out at 8am ish. I don't want to overheat her but I don't want her to be too cold either. She seems really hot when we get in but perhaps that's because I'm so cold?

:wall2: You'd think I hadn't done winter with a baby before!

That sounds alright but I'd maybe lose a vest

I just got snowsuit for twins, but we're still not 'layering' :)

If we go out and it's cold i put them in a vest, top, bottoms and light fleecey coat and socks.

LO is wearing a long sleeved vest, long sleeved top, jumper and jacket today. Then tights, and trousers.

We're not doing snowsuits until it's really cold as it gets quite chilly in the Scottish Highlands! Is about 3/4 degrees today.

today maddi went out in a vest, t-shirt, trousers, jumper and coat, then footmuff and hat if needed, but tbh, she didn't need her coat as we were soft play then shopping, so i'm sure caitlyn will be fine hon, i'm always putting too many clothes on mads

i take katie out in a vest, tshirt, jumper, jacket, jeans and socks. although i'm gona start switching to tights cos socks dont last long!! i'm into dresses atm aswell, so vest, top, dress, tights and a jacket!

Vest, long sleeve t-shirt, dress, tights, coat. hat, mits and cosy toes when needed. :)

Good thread, this is my first baby through a UK winter (was raised in a sunny climate - so only just getting used to this cold now!) Thanks for the posts, I didn't think to add tights instead of socks!

When do you normally use snowsuits? and do you put them on over all clothes? (so say, vest, trousers, long sleeved top and socks)

Ta xx

we put ffion in a vest, long sleeved top, dress with tights or jeans with socks, sometimes a jumper if its chilly but mostly just a coat with a hat.

i'd maybe loose a vest, but your her mum hun, and you know her the best, Rosie is my little chubster, but i do like to wrap her up warm, i do think she's overheat with 2 vests, but i know your cailtlyn is tiny in comparison to Rosie, so maybe needs the extra vest, if you get me!! LOL

 This morning she had a hat, mittens, a vest, top, jumper, coat, tights, socks, jeans and boots on  She was nice and snug though! Normally I just go by how I'm feeling in relation to the heat ect, but I don't really feel the cold so I don't trust myself

i was warm today going out in jeans t-shirt and a jumper...it didnt get above 5degrees  i've got an inbuilt radiator me!

it was -0.5 on Saturday afternoon at Loch Ness

I dont normally feel the cold but i was freezing today.. lol

Hasn't it just!

I'm thinking Caitlyn might need a thicker coat. I bought her one from next but it's not all that thick. She has another one from next that IS thick but its in the next size up. You just never know when they're going to have a growth spurt so I don't really know if it's worth buying a thicker coat in her size. I wish she could just tell me if she's cold

Dont they say you should stick your finger down the neck/collar on to their chest for the best gauge of their temp??? .......or did I dream that......

when they're in bed they say to do that, and to take no notice of hands/feet cos they're naturally colder!

aparently if you put your lips to the back of their neck you can tell if they have a temperature or are cold or too hot, so maybe check that way!! LOL

Im thinking i need to buy Rosie a thicker coat too, it's just a nightmare to know if they are ok or not
