Hi all,

Just the last few days Libby has had really cold hands, she has a good temp (36.3-36.5 usually) so her body temp isn't an issue, its just her hands are anything between cold & ice.

I personally have bad circulation & get cold hands (warm heart  ) so don't know if maybe she just has poor circulation like me?

Just wondered if anyone elses bubbas had had this?

I'll mention it to hv too

Its natural for babies to have colder hands and feet, Harrys hands are cold alot of the time, as long as she doesnt have a temperature and you've checked the back of her neck to see if shes cold then sounds normal hun

I have heard it is normal too.

Gabriella always had cold hands and feet but not so much now.

I'll mention it to HV when I go to clinic to get L weighed, but I'm not too concerned & less so now I've read your replies.

Newborns are meant to have cold hands as their body is concentrating on the organs which are more important is what I was told. Also check not the back of their neck which I always did but between their shoulder blades.

Oooh thats good to know......yeah I usually check the top of her back or tummy if I'm just using my hands to see what I think. or use a thermometer in her armpit if I'm being accurate.

I suppose it does make sense that her hands don't need to be heated - thanks for that hun

Glad I could help. My mum was worried that Jades hands were cold so I asked my health visitor.

It isn't unusual for babies to have cold hands and feet. It says in the book I have at home to check your baby's temperature by feeling the back of their neck or their tummy. Jake gets cold hands and feet quite a lot. I used to put mits on him overnight but then he started sucking the mits which made them wet and then his hands got even colder.

Ellouise is the same, her hands and feet are always cold....

she will wake up in the night sceraming if her hands are cold... hence she now sleeps with socks on her feed and hands under her sleepsuit

fussy little lady like her mother ;)
