This is such a silly thread but i wanted to ask anyway...

I got a real thing for coke zero atm, not a craving but it's just really nice to have a cold glass in this warm weather! Thing is i'm drinking prob about 4-5 glasses a day! Is this too much as i'm still eatting alot of chocolate too so i'm having quite abit of coke/chocolate and the odd cup of tea/coffee?! I know they say to cut down in pregnancy, well is that the whole pregnancy or would little man be ok as i'm nearly 24 weeks! Don't wanna hurt the little guy!!

I had 4 cans of Diet Coke yesterday and some choccy, so far today two cans of Diet Coke and two smarties cookies and two other chocolate caramel biscuits. I know people that drink litres and litres of coke whilst preggers and a huge load of chocolate and have healthy bubbas! Just watch your intake and try and limit it :) x

Lol with Jacob I totally stopped having coke for like the first 30 weeks, only had it on the odd occasion! Same with chocolate I was so good, haha! You could try caffiene free coke, thats what I normally buy? :) x

I have a real thing for pepsi max :D but the only time I eat chocolate is when I think my blood sugar is low

He should be fine. I'm having on average 3 diet cokes ( I'm a diet coke junkie do that's good for me!) a bar of chocolate and about 3 teas a day. I remember with my first I used to have cans of coke all day every day before they brought the limit out and he was fine!

i just bought a big jar of coffee and a big bottle of coke... LOVE IT!

I'm glad everyone else is still drinking coke/coffee and eatting chocolate!! Gonna go grab a bar now... It's got so bad I even dream of chocolate most nights!! Lol

Seriously I do!! Lol I'll dream that I'm in the supermarket looking for loads of chocolate and last night I dreamt I couldn't hold all the chocolate! Would love to know what this means!!

at 1st hypnobirthing class yesterday midwife really warned us against Coke!!!:eh:
Don't know if this includes the diet versions but she said it increases baby's heart rates to about 200 after we drink it. The artificial sweetener aspartame in diet drinks is so bad for you when youre not pregnant never mind when you are.
Sorry to all who enjoy it. :oooo:

On a nicer note......
She also told us that chocolate is one of the foods that increases our body's endorphins, natural painkillers. so a little chocolate might not be too bad. she said substitute cola, tea, coffee etc for water or fruit juice where possible especially if youre low in iron.

Everytime i have a glass of coke, i do have a glass of water after! I feel like it flushes the coke out my system quicker lol dunno if it works though but they say water detox's you! lol

I love coke - especially in summer. I cant' be doing with diet coke etc but I have limited myself to one coke a week!

As for chocolate...can't cut that down! Am on 2 bars a day :)

I know the artificial sweeteners are bad for you, but as far as I know the caffine isn't that bad for you. I was told that it only really mattered in the first trimester as it had been linked to spina bifida, but once the spine was fully formed it didn't matter anymore. I was also given to understand that when they say cut down / limit your caffine intake, they only meant for us not to drink like 10 double expresso's everyday!

I wouldn't worry, I know loads of ladies who drank tea/coffee etc all the way through, and all was well.

That being said, I have used my pregnancy as a good excuse to try to improve my diet anyway, so I've tried to move onto more juices/squash/water instead of the huge amount of fizzy pop I used to have. But I do still have tea and pop, just not as much as I used to.

Before this pg I drank loads of coffee so I stopped that and went back on decaf tea but I do treat myself to a coffee in costa or m+s once a week or so :) Its all in moderation isn't it? :)

i couldnt drink fizzy drinks at start they made me sick but now im making up for it, i love fizzy drinks, chocolate and crisps cant get enough lucky i dont drink tea or coffee, i remember in my 1st pregnancy i ate a whole iced lemon cake the night before a midwife app so my 1st urine of the day showed high amounts of glucose and she sent me to get tested for gestational diabetes i knew it was just the cake haha and i was right all was fine, but just a wee tip if u do have a major junk food session night before ur due to give urine sample, give ur 2nd sample of day lol xxxxx
