Cluster feeding question

My little boy is now 6 weeks old and has always constantly fed in the evenings from birth, from 5/6pm until 10/11pm and then does sleep well at night only waking for feeds... I was just wondering how long the cluster feeding lasts? Will he always do this or do bf babies stop this as they get older?

I'm just worrying as I was hoping to have my first evening out with some friends when he is 8 weeks old and worried how hubby will cope with baby in the evening without me if baby is constantly wanting to feed and I'm not there? I occasionally give baby some expressed milk from a bottle if I'm worrying I'm not satisfying him in the evenings and obviously will leave hubby with some milk but am unsure how much I will need to leave and worried I won't be able to express off enough in advance to satisfy baby while in out for the evening (probably 5 hours)....

Any advice ladies? Thanks xx

My lo cluster feeds from 9-12 then wakes every 3ish hours for a dreamfeed and wakes up properly around 8-9am... He is 6 weeks too and occasionally takes an expressed bottle but no more than one a day... I left him with my mum at 4 weeks from 2.30pm to 1.30am to have a night out with the girls and he was fine! He even cluster fed at the same time as usual- but with the bottle- it was doing my mums head in having to keep heating up bottle then he would only take 1/2 ounce or less, lucky I had been storing up breastmilk since my milk came in just for that night!
Don't worry, your lo will probably be fine, but it won't stop you calling every half hour worrying (if your anything like me!)
Just make sure you pack a pump and sneak off to the toilet to express a couple of times or your boobs will be like rocks! (I ending up having to hand express in a train toilet- was in there for a good 20mins and got a lot of strange looks when I came out :-) )

Your LO's sleep/feeding pattern seems very similar to mine. Thanks for advice, will be interesting to see if he still wants to cluster feed in my absence... Poor hubby! In the mean time I'd better get expressing.

That's good advice about pump, I hadn't thought about that. I will be at my friends house so probably a little easier for me to do ! Hehe. Yes am sure i will be calling frequently . I had my first trip away from baby this weekend as went to cinema and I was checking my phone throughout the movie!
