Cleaning Help

I bought a pram off my sister last week, she bought it off ebay the week before but only used it once as people thought her son was a girl.
Anyway, when i was going through the bits i dragged out the raincover. My sister never touched it so was the only thing she didn't clean when it arrived. I shook it and the stench of stale smoke filled the room!!!
I've soaked it in the bath but when i hung it up the smell is still as strong as before! Any ideas what i can do with it? I don't wanna use it while it's like it! It's quite a suffocating smell!

Try washing it with a strong vinegar solution Then leave it outside on the line for a while to get the vinegar smell to disperse. Then rinse of with clean water.

The theory is that the vinegar is an acid so removes the resin left by the smoke and eventually the vingear smell will vanish,
