Ive got the brill AK book, but skinning, deseeding and chopping a million tomatoes is a right faff - is it OK to use the cartons of chopped tomatoes?

I use them. Agree it takes an age to peel and de seed the stupid things. If it's just plain chopped tomatoes I don't see the problem I just add ny own mixed herbs x

Tapatalking :)

Check the salt content as passage has more salt than big standard tins. Why I. Earth dies she tell you to make your own?

If memory serves, the salt is 'trace'. I'm too tired to go and check - that's so sad!!
LO and I have the cold at the mo, so totally shattered.
X

My post made no sense! Sorry I was out!

What I meant is passata (stupid predictive text) has more salt than normal tins :)

I've just looked on a carton I had in the cupboard and it says trace, obviously other brands may be different (was sainsbury's own)
Hope you and LO are better soon Sunny! x

Pinky - don't worry, I knew what you meant!

Rachaellius - aw thanks! FX we're looking at feeling much better tomorrow after a good sleep!

Just noticed AK uses canned toms in some later recipes.
I'm sure it's fine, but I might call my HV (who's used to my bonkers Qs) and check!

I use organic ones as they dont have salt and citric acid in.them (sainsburys brand)
No way i am peeling and de seeding tomatoes!

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Knopk@ - do the organic ones have even less salt, etc.? If so, that's totally my solution. Such a performance peeling and deseeding. Surely, seeds are good roughage? I sound like my mum hehe!

I dont think they have any salt hun, i.cheched for those things. Esp didnt want citric acid

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

What does citric acid do? So much to look out for, isn't there?

Citric acid preserves things but of course i dont want him to eat it .
Organic ones come in tins btw.
I dont buy everything organic for him but i always read list of ingredients esp because he has dairy intolerance
Tapatalking so cant see signatures
