Want to know, what type of account have you opened for your LO

Have you played the saftey card, and just got a normal savings account, or has anyone taken the risk for a Stakeholders acc

Im not sure which account i want to open, hence the post to see what other mums have done.

Tried to ask OH, all he says its up to you, your better with money, not much help there.

Still haven't done this yet
Been meaning to open one with Yorkshire bank (best interest rate apparently :| ) but still not got my arse to Bedford to do it. Why I have to live in a crappy place with crap local banks I don't know

Am trying to get this sorted, too many choices so will probably just open an account in my bank.

we did the stakeholder as we are going to have a sep account to save up for him in our names so we have control over it

Safe option. Opened with Nationwide and if you put in £20 a month or more you get an extra 1% interest which is really good :)

thanks for the info

the more you read, the more confussed you get

sami, do u know the intrest rate for yorkshire bank

Off hand, no, in a word :?

It was reported on the news as one of the best a few months ago when Damien was one or two months old. Should still be the same.

Not polanning on paying any money into his though, I don't want him suddeny having access to too much money at 18 and me not being able to say anything about it. I'm opening up a seperate savings for the money I want him to have, and then he can have it at 17 for a car or driving lessons (or whatever comes up when he's nearer that age) if he wants it.
