Could someone explain it to me please and who it is going to effect? x

From what I understand it means it won't be going up in the next 3 years.
As usually each year it goes up about 20p or something, but they have decided to keep it at £20.30 for your first child and £13.40 for the rest until 2014.

SO it will affect everyone as we won't get that extra few pence each year!

I get £130 (something) for a month for my two and tbh I am grateful for that - It buys a months nappies wipes milk for me personally (when Im sensible and bulk buy lol) :D I don't see the fuss on this one (where there has been fuss that is).

I had a blonde moment a couple of weeks ago thinking they were stopping it lol!! As everyone else has said it's just staying the same for 3 years!!

oh this thread has cheered me up wehey! i thought they were stopping it too LM lol  xxx

I thought that at first and was quite upset about it as we had counted on that money when we calculated if we could afford for me to stay at home. So when I realised that we still get it I was very happy!!

I'm just pleased to be still getting it. Like wobbles i spend all mine on the kids, i get mine tomorrow so i will go straight out and spend the lot on nappies, wipes and maybe some new vests or baby grows etc. I actually have a feeling they will abolish it in a the next 5 years or so if the tories stay in  i know its 'free money' but i really count on it so it will knack me if it goes xx

I would struggle without it.. Like you all it helps with things that are needed for Odhrán xx

I'm not fussed about it not going up tbh, my tax credits went up £2 a week this year. I know thats £104 extra year but seriously I dont notice it!?!? If they demolished child benefit I'd be screwed :(

i get my child benefit monthly and now that my son is older so i dont need to buy wipes/nappies etc...so now he gets pocket money or when the shows was in town he got £20 to spend there...i see it as his money.
I put some into the bank too for when hes older. I feel bad spending it on myself, so it goes into my account and straight into his, no matter how badly im struggling that week for rent lol..

I like to think it will come in handy for uni or a car etc.

Do they not stop it when the child is 16?? x

I believe as long as the child is living at home and is a student you can still claim this - my brother is 17 and at 6th Form and my mum still gets this for him!!

You get it if the child is still in full-time education and living with you up until 18 x
