Hi all,

I've already had chickenpox as a child, but just found out that my baby niece has got it (I saw her only yesterday).

Have researched chickenpox in pregnancy and it looks like all is ok as I've had it and I'm over 20 weeks......Got MW on Weds so will mention it then, but just looking for some reassurance in the meantime anyone?

L xx

As far as I'm aware chickenpox is fine when pregnant, it's measles which is the one to look out for. My daughter had chickenpox when I was carrying my son, and all was ok!!

I no someone who was born with chickenpox, never quite found out how and when his mum came in to contact with it but he was fine, im sure it wont have affected baby but prob worth a mention

Like you say, you are in the safe zone and you've already had it so you should be fine. I had to research this at about 33 weeks because I went to visit my sister and little niece and they thought she may have the virus (a friend of theirs had visited with a child who developed spots on the last day of the visit.) It was all fine though, my niece didn't develop it.
Apparently, it is not good to get it just before labour as it can cause issues - but again, it is unlikely you will pick it up if you've already been exposed.
Hope you are ok!
