there is a junior one, from 1 yr +

Ah I used the junior one - he was only a couple of weeks off being 1. Try asking your local pharmacist if there's anything they recommend.

Just to say yeah it's definately Chicken Pox so I'm off work this week with him as we don't have anybody around to look after him and nursery won't have him. He's the first of the baby babies in nursery to get it, but probably caught it from one of the older ones in the toddler area who have had it going round recently.

Nat went to Boots pharmacy last night and they said with under 1's there's nothing that can be done. I would have tried the junior piriton but there's a big difference between being nearly 1 and being 8 months, so I didn't take the chance. Bless him though, other than trying to pull his ears off (he has scabs under each ear) he's been really good about it and only has calpol before bed.

poor ryan! i hope he isnt too ill with it...bless
oh btw, have you rung your gp and told them he has it? just so they can put it on his notes.

what about putting natural yogurt on his spots, I know its for sunburn but it might relieve the itching.

Finleys got it :( caught it off his bro and sis!!!! He had 4 yesterday, 1 of which is right on the inside of his lip! Just hope he dont get it as bad as Josh did :(

Go to the GP because they can prescribe an antihistamine suitable for babies... I know there has to be some that can be used on LO but it requires a prescription.

Common antihistamines include:

* diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
* brompheniramine (Dimetapp, Bromfed), chorpheniramine (Chor-trimeton, Pediacare, Naldecon, Rynatan, Triaminic), triprolidine (Actifed) , pyrilamine, clemastine (Tavist), and carbinoxamine (Rondec). These are usually a part of multisymptom cold relievers.
* cyproheptadine (Periactin). A long acting prescription antihistamine, sometimes used for prophylaxis for frequent migraines and recurrent abdominal pain.
* hydroxyzine (Atarax or Vistaril). A long acting prescription antihistamine.
* loratadine (Claritin), desloratadine (Clarinex), cetirizine (Zyrtec) and fexofenadine (Allegra) are newer, second generation antihistamines that are available by prescription to treat allergies and are usually less sedating than older medications.

are a few...but go to you gp if the itching is bad. :hug: :hug: :hug:

Think Rubes has it too :( Just posted and Beanie said Ryan has it :hug:

Just googled it, and its common betweeen March and May apparently...

In a way I would be relieved it was over with now while she is too little to realise whats going on and scratch herself to bits...

Its horrid to see our ittle ones suffer tho, they cant tell us whats wrong :cry:
