Well I bought my OH these tickets for the rugby world cup, and it's SUCH a pain organising how he's gonna get there!

He needs to get from Birmingham to Lens, which is near Lille, in the north.

I just wondered if anyone here has made trip across the channel and if there are any cheaper ways to do it. The Eurostar is a fortune!!

Last year we went from Dover to Dunkerque (just down from Calais) for £152 with the car an caravan with Norfolk Line ferries. Was really cheap but maybe worth a look?

ferry is cheaper but means driving.

Eurostar is expensive & costly but very comfy :D

We're looking into him maybe doing something like the train to Dover then going on the ferry as a foot passenger.

The Eurostar from London is £120, he doesn't mind doing that but as he's never been to France or on the ferry we kinda want him to go on the boat, it's more fun :)

We upgraded to "1st class" too which was pretty cheap and you could help yourself to cakes /pastries and drinks!
