Hello I'm back again apologies for another OPK question!

So I came off the pill 7wks ago, had withdrawal bleed then some spotting/possibly AF but not sure for 2 days on CD28 so I used my CB for one day and got a circle, I couldn't really get along with the cheapo sticks as the lines were faint one day then none existent the next day so I left it a few days and tested again with the CB, got another circle.

Read a post that said it will always show a circle first time and if you don't use for a few days (yeh thanks CB for telling people that and wasting money on sticks!!). So if the spotting was actually AF I'm due on this weekend so because I'm addicted to POAS I tested yesterday, blank circle and today a bloody flashing smiley :wall2: I'm SOOOOOO confused!!!

Can it be false because I'm possibly due AF or because the pill has messed my cycles up could I be ovulating? I could go on for days wasting sticks and only getting flashing smileys. Obviously I'm not bothered because I really want to conceive but it's just getting false hope all the time.

Also should you ignore the blue lines? Because yesterday the line was there but faint and today can hardly see it.

Everyone is different...

I came off BC on the 20th of March and I had a normal period on April 2nd which lasted its normal amount of time. I ovulated on the 19th of April and had two days of solid smiley faces - so it seems I was quite lucky when coming off of my BC as my cycle regulated itself immediately.

It seems your cycle could well be messed up due to coming off BC. You can't believe everything other people's posts say. Go by the test. If you've got a flashing smiley today, then test again tomorrow and the next day and the next day until you get a solid smiley. The solid smiley means you are on your peak day of ovulation and so you need to dtd with your OH on that day as well as the day after as it takes 24 hours for an egg to die without successful fertilisation.

There's no way of us telling you whether the test is telling you fibs or is telling you the truth. Test again tomorrow and see if you get another flashing smiley - if you do, keep testing each day until you get a solid smiley. A lot of people say you should ignore the blue lines because they don't determine your ovulation very well, however I found that on my CB tests, on the few days I had just a circle the lines were faint and then on my two days that I had a solid smiley they were dark blue - same as the control line - so I personally think they do give you an indicator, but that's just me.

Hope this helped somewhat. Xx

You mean the plus tests from clear blue? Blue dyes and plus tests to be specific are notorious for false negatives x

Update

I've had 3 days of flashing smileys now, had to buy a new pack and did 2 tests out of interests one with the old one one with the new one. Old one flashing smile, new one plain circle so that confirms that new testers will always show a plain circle.

I also rang Clear Blue for clarification. She said the holder resets itself after 3 days, it does NOT remember your previous cycles. She said to wait for 3 normal AF's before even starting to test as that's why I'm possibly getting false flashing smiles as its picking up the eastrogen after ovulation so I've probably missed it due to getting the blank circle first time and thinking I'm not ovulating. Basically she just said work out your cycle lengths over 3 months and take the shortest cycle then start testing on date the leaflet says.
