My line manager has just made me paranoid about cleaning cat litter. Anyone else got this problem?

OH has been doing it but he's away this week so have just been scooping and using gloves.

i think aslong as u wear gloves you'll be fine i also read that
only cats that eat raw meat or drink milk from infected animals are at risk of toxoplasmosis xx

Hi

My midwife told me not to do it even with gloves, I think everyone is told different things. Wear gloves and give your hands a good wash after xx

As long as you wear rubber gloves it's fine to do it, I have 4 cats and this is my 4th baby and I have have never had any probs, always make sure you wash the gloves off as well before you take them off and then give your hands a wash too.

Yeah I was told not to go anywhere near a cat litter tray, gloves or no gloves! X

Thanks girls mixed views!

Personally can't see how the toxin can pass through plastic marigolds so it's fine to do it for a while but def let the OH carry on when he's back! Just wash hands thoroughly in warm water after and you'll be fine!! Xx

I was told ok with gloves, but we got rid of Comet's tray and she poops and pees outside now she is a good little princess!

Thanks girls for comments. Xxxxx

I have three cats and I changed the litter tray a couple of times (we've weened them off it now before baby comes) I think if you are around cats the likely hood is you're immune to toxoplasmosis - I wouldn't worry Hun, it's another thing they say as precaution! I worry more about the dead birds & mice they bring me all the time x
