...when i said pug 307 he said AVOID

.. so erm yeah...

he said to look at ford ka - fiesta - micra - corsa - few others too cant remmeber tho..

so my question...

out of the above i fancy a new fiesta.. had an old one and loved it...

so...

ford fiesta diesels... what do you reckon?

reliable? cheap parts? Etc..

i had an old fiesta nad it was fab (when oil was used ;) ) haha

thanks in advance ;)

My hubby is a car nut (so I am to a degree!). Without causing offence to anyone else we wld both say steer clear of French and Spanish unless you are going for the top of the range ones. Ford / Vauxhall are always a safe reliable bet and cheaper on parts as no importing needed. German are even better bmw/audi/merc but much more pricey. I can't comment specifically on Ford etc, but my car is diesel and the only down side is that diesel is much more expensive than petrol right now! Most diesels these days are just as nippy as petrol versions of the same engine.

hmm ...not sure that helped AT ALL, but didn't want to leave without replying!

my OH works for Ford so I'm biased!

Although Diesel is more expensive than petrol if you make more longer journeys than shorter ones you get more miles.

Don't get a KA! sorry to anyone who has one but they are cack! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I would say go with a fiesta or a focus!!!! the focus is a lovely car and ya can get them pretty cheap now!!! nice anf big enough for shopping babs stuff etc but not massive!!!

and im biased cause im a ford nutt!!! we have an old series 1 RS turbo :)

our ford focus c-max is a diesel, I love it :) not really had any problems either, an th one we did have was covered by warranty.

Yeh I would say a Ford Diesel would be a good reliable car! Fords here usually are and we find diesels to be more reliable! A little more expensive but more MPG! Cheaper services and to maintain! (no spark plugs to replace etc!) Though you know some Ford cars have peugeot diesel engine lol! Not 100% so dont quote me haha
Why dont you look on google for saftey reviews and drivers reviews etc on all cars!? Then you will get a better pic!

Heres one to look at!

I love the C-max but don't you think the dash is HUGE!?!

We will always avoid Ford!!!! My dad used to work for them and said he'd never buy one. we've had too many unreliable ones. End up scrapping, or forever need fixing. Japanese cars are the most reliable in my opinion. And i love Vauxhalls. So cheap to repair.
I work for Nissan (Japanese) and Renault (French) I quite like Renaults though.

Nowt wrong with fords imo, build quality may not be as good as some of the german barges but they are good cars!

I has a new fiesta for a while (1.4 petrol) and it was ok, though not to my taste (i was used to a sporty car  ), my brothers past few company cars have been ford diesels though, most recent being the 2.0 TDCi cmax and 1.8TDCi mondeo. He didnt have much problem with either (although the cmax broke its fuel pump a few times!), ford are cheap enough to repair - although with new cars, nothings THAT cheap anymore anyway!

Got to wonder though - people buy diesels for the better fuel consumption, but with the current prices theyre costing just as much to run as petrols IMO! Diesels are nippy enough because they pack quite a bit of torque, but then if you're pressin the accelerator constantly you're just aswell with a petrol anyway (just dont own a 3 litre like mine - gets 6mpg when i do that   )

The fiestas are nice looking wee cars tho! :) id probably have one, but only an ST lol alot of people say avoid ford beacause theyre used to the older crap, but in reality, theyre just as reliable as any other brand when taken care of :)

the above text may not be very... linear... apologies for that

i had a ford escort diesel, it was ok, i would of prefered a turbo though, sometimes it felt like i could push it quicker (lmao)

ive now got a rover 220tdi
