Hi All,

I have been BF sam for 16 weeks now but it has suddenly started taking me nearly an hour to feed him as he's very fussy and faffy - so I am looking into formula and have a question.

If I prepare the bottles each morning with boiled water and leave them on the worktop, can I then add the powder as each feed is due throughout the day, and then reheat the prepared feed in a jug of boiling water?

Thanks for any advice.

i can't answer your q about bottles... but just wanted to say that formula doesn't mean necessarily mean an end to fussiness; you could just end up paying to have your baby fuss on a teat rather than on you.

fussy phases pass (connor gets fussy when he's teething and when he's poorly), although TBH connor often fed for an hour at your LO's age and still does occasionally now. i think he enjoys the closeness and 'us' time, even if he spends half of it attempting to rip my nipple off trying to watch the telly

I dont know anything abotu formula (though i think that might be ok, but hopefully a bottle feeding mummy can help you) however i wanted to say that i currently spend from about 7pm-11pm with booby out constantly, she's stopped drinking much in that day (possibly due to being with a childminder) and now will feed off me all evening with about 10 minds gap after every "course" of her meal to play with Daddy.

The only thing that would definately be easier about bottle feeding is that you could hand him over rather then feeding him yourself.

*edit* just wanted to add that the fussing thing is somehting i think they start around now anyway, Tally was like a dog with a toy regarding my nipples this morning, they're so intersted in everything else around them and staring at our boobs for ages can be boring.

Hi, yes you can re-heat the cooled boiled water later in the day if you are heating a feed up. Either in a jug as you suggest, or 20 secs in the microwave - as log as you give it a good shake to get rid of any hotspots (and check the temp).

You shouldn't reboil cooled boiled water, but don't think thats what you meant anyway!

Thanks!

The reason I was looking into formula is because when he's fussing on the boob and half crying, as soon as I put his dummy in, he stops and falls asleep! It's like he's fine with the dummy but not me :-(
