If there is sugar in your commercial brand baby food...??? Or is there a sugar free brand?

There isnt over here and I asked the chemist the other day if they had any without sugar and she gave me this incredulous look and said "Why do you want to do that?".... er because regular sugars bad for em thats why :wall: :wall: :wall: So am I stuck making my own baby breakfasts indefinately? Or should I just bite the bullet... I don't remember if you could get sugar free baby foods in the UK its been so long...

Hey  you could try organix brand or plum brand, they are really good for non sugary stuff. Dives me insane :x standing there looking at all the labels and all the hidden sugar (maltodextrin) thats in stuff its mad!!

Everything ive given LO "says" its sugar free. Like maria1976 said, i spend more time looking at the contents of the food on packets then I do actually shopping. Ive been doing mostly home cooking but I do give LO cow and gate creamy porridge.

xx

Sainsburys website shows the ingredients of most of its products. Having had a quick look, it seems that Hipp don't add sugar.

Lost my reply once already

Do you have Aptamil/Milupa in Spain? They have introduced some sugar free cereals (without milk already included) that are also organic. Not sure if they are available everywhere but here is the link of what they look like. Do you speak German?

I think the contents of some brands change according to the country and regulations of that particular place. Eg. HIPP food has different sugars in depending on if it is in Austria, Switzerland or UK. In the UK they seem mostly sugar free but I saw a Fennel tea in Austria that had 3 sugars in it as the first three ingredients, in Switzerland it 'only' had two and I am not sure if you can buy it in England.

Unbelievable. How the heck do you get sugar in fennel tea? We have a huge fennel plant in our herb garden. Cut fennel, infuse, cool, bang wallop you have fennel tea. Sugar indeed

Squiglet, you're better off just buying her a big bag of organic porridge oats and giving her that each morning. Or mashing an avacado or something.

Yes one sugar wasn't enough, it needed rohrzucker, glucose syup and fructose. I don't know why people buy the instant tea in granuals for babies. Surely a fruit /herb tea bag or one from your garden is fine? How to get them addicted from the beginning!

Crazy isn't it. We paid about a quid for a pack of fennel seeds, that was 2 years ago now we have a 7 foot high healthy plant which we use constantly- no added sugars

Fennel grows THAT tall?

Ooooops just hijacked Squiglet's thread...
