I was told the first 6 weeks are the hardest to cope with...wrong! The 1st couple were a breeze, it's the accumilation (sp?) of sleep deprivation that'll get ya. :(

Stanley is in a great routine. He sleeps all day, screams all evening and is awake all night! Very regular  I think I birthed a bat!

OH just woke me from a nap after an hour because apparently I 'wouldn't sleep tonight'. No s*!t Sherlock! Now he's took Stanley out for an hour and I'm in a quiet house and can't get back to sleep! :x

I just want re-assuring that this collicky period doesn't go on forever. Can anybody draw on any experience?

when LO is mixed up with day and night the best thing i was ever told to do is.

when they nap in the day let then nap by the window with curtains open or keep the light on then night time it will be pitch black.

i seen it on a show i tryed it as Dior was a vampire too lol
it worked a treat.

ild also let little one sleep in different places in the day, sofa, pram ect
then at night always be in the same place either cot or moses basket. and for night time always use a sleep bag. soon your little man should realise that night time is sleep time

but it will get better babe

I was at my wits end last wednesday (j would have been 6 weeks 4 days) and since then its got better after some feeding advice from the hv. Ive only to feed Joe every 3-3.5 hours. I was demand feeding him from the bottle and was just feeding him all the time. He wasnt settling and was unhappy. She said his tummy wasnt getting a chance to empty as he was getting fed too frequently and this was giving him bad bad wind and an upset tummy,

Since going with her advice he has been like the golden boy. Better bowel movements, hardly any colicky behaviour and sleeping better.

Its got to get better for you!!!

It does get better minxy!! He'll find his own way but he will get there :)

Ahhhh hun, i promise you it will get better, and its just round the corner. Grab some sleep when Stanley will let you ( and OH lol) He'll start to get himself in to his own little routine, and the colic will ease. PROMISE!
Your doing great!

Thanks for your responses! :) Stanley only woke twice last night and settled quite quickly.

At the moment he is wide awake and we're playing, he seems content. Awake and NOT crying, it's almost a first!!! :D

i would have killed hubby if he had woken me from a nap.. you need all the rest u can get!

It does get better babe, Damien was awake more at night aswell but I used to do what Dionne did, naps in pram/sofa, anywhere but the moses/cot. And now he knows it's nightime (whether he choses to ignore that or not is a new and different matter)

I found the first weeks a doddle too, the hardest bit for me was getting to the 6-8 week point and waiting for them to grow up a bit, It does get easier though I promise
