I agree with budges first comment TBH

It makes me so angry. If people are genuinley out of work etc then fair enough, but for others to go out and work 9-5 or whatever and be skint cause there paying all their own bills, then people take advantage by claiming at the same time, like there special. It is basically stealing.

if it was my ''friend'' I would ring her, say ''Look, Your my mate and I dont want to loose the friendship but Robs my partner and you know what he does for a living so Im going to tell him tonight your OH has a job, im sorry but I cant lie to him and you cant expect me to''

if she falls out with you, she isnt a proper friend to start with tbh, if she is a real friend she will understand why you gotta do what you gotta do, and although may be mad, will not distroy the friendship.

i would tell def tell your DH. I think that the whole system should be abolished and some thing else should be brought in. In some parts of the world you are expected to work for your money, there are lots of jobs that people can do for the social security money. but there are exceptions to this though.

my hate is when you seee people with disabled stickers in their car, then you see them walking carrying a whole load of heavy shopping bags.

My mum was told that she didnt qualify for disabled benefits and two of her discs in her back are crumbling, and some days she can barely walk. and yet you see people with nothing wrong with them getting the money, grrr

well I told her I had to tell Rob, and tried to explain my reasons but I'm apparently the worse friend on the planet and I don't want her baby to have nice things! so i'm down a pal, and my little girl has lost her favourite playmate. I feel really bad, guilty. she does see other kids but they payed together so well. I really hope I did the right thing.

She's just trying to manipulate you emotionally, and make you take responsibility for the situation not her. Ignore it. you went with your gut feeling on what was right, and that's what's important.

So her baby can have nice things? Basically hun she is sponging off of you so that they have a better life! Everyone else has to stuggle to make ends meet so you should never feel guilty at all. It is wrong what she is doing and it's fraud which is against the law.

these people are not stealing form the government they are stealing form us, normal hard working people.

every penny she gets that she shouldnt is a bit less maternity pay, tax credit or child benefit for the rest of us - so you should tell her that she is the one who doesnt want your baby to have nice things!

that is so true - dont these people always think like this - its not oh well i was silly to break the law and i got caught - its: someone grassed me up - its their fault.

i know couples where the woman claims as a single mother and gets all their rent and council tax paid..it makes me angry because i dont get any maternity pay or allowance, we live on ohs wages which is actually just enough to pay our rent each week let alone bills, council tax and food nappies etc..for this reason i get a small amount of help (and i mean small) from the council for my rent and 10 pounds a month knocked off my council tax..which is nothing basically! OH is working so many hours for us to live that we hardly see him! i'd love to go back to work but it would barely pay for a stranger to look after hayden, i might aswell look after him myself.

with your situation its different as your husband works for the benefits office..so you did the right thing! but i could never grass up these ppl, i just get on with my own life, its not really my business and i can only hope they get caught and have to pay it back!

I completely agree you did the right thing. The benefits system is in place to help people who genuinely need it. People who are dishonest and claim what they are not entitled to deserve to be caught.

Don't let this woman upset you, she needs to take responsibility for her own actions.
