I watch all them birthing programmes, but I doubt 'real life' is like that.

So my question is:

What exactly is the whole process like?

(From you have your first contraction, to you being in labour, to the baby being dressed etc)

E.g (They take the baby out, place her on my tummy, etc)

Also, if you deliver in the early hours (say 1am) when does your partner have to leave?

You might get more replies hun if you put it in the ask a mum section :) Then you can get budge's idea of it and others, all births are different from what i have been told?

oh shuks

mods ... im sorry..

im gonna do a duplicate .. so u can delete this one if u must..

thnx cassi

as cassi says everyones experiences are different and if i told you mine it wouldn't mean yours would be the same.

From experience though i would practice breathing and detatchment. By this i mean when you get a contration you need to breath in and out slowly and deeply conectrating all the time on something completely different like a nurswey ryhme. I used to sing in my head ''the grand old duke of york'' It reallt helps.

To practice breathing get a friend to tickle your feet (if you have ticklish fee that is) and try breathing through the tickle detatching your mind off the tickle.

It sounds absolutely stupid but if you can get it right its great. Try not to have gas and air until you're about 4 cm dilated. Then you're less likeyl to need anything else.

If all goes to plan once baby is delivered its laid on your tummy and you coo and ooo and ahh at it then your placenta is delivered. You hardly noticethat - the midwife may ask you to push a bit but usually it slithers out ok. You'll be checked for any tears and stitched up accordingly. Baby will be weighed and dressed and then you'll go for a shower and freashen up.
If you deleiver in the middle of the night your birth partner will have to leave untill the morning. You''ll be tired so you won't mind.

Then you will be taken to your bed offered tea and toast (ask for some if you'tre hungry) and left to bond with bubba!

hope this ocvers everything ebony.
I loveanswering questions and helping people if i can so please fee lfree to ask more if you want

how about telling your friend to kick the shit out of you and see if you can detatch you mind!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

nope im not joking.

its up to you if you want a natural birth with no epidural etc you have to learn to breath through contractions. simple as that :D

yes thats true and i comend people who can do it natural  i wish i could have.

but i just found the comparison to be tickled funny!! :rotfl:

xxxx

All births/labours are different so it is diffucult to relate just to one experience.
Just go with the flow and try not to worry, you will find that the programmes on sky etc are fairly accurate. i watched loads and learnt quite alot from them.

i suppose it is quite funny :cheer:

i see what you mean budge, it wasnt really comparing labour pains to been tickled at all. It was giving you an idea of something that you wouldnt usually be able to distract yourself from, to bring yourself to be able to distract yourself from it with breathing. I guess its something you need to crack to be able to breath through labour pains so in a way its a pretty good example, well done budgie i shall try it later :D

ps: just ordered my tens machine

thanks cassi.

give it a go - it works it really does.
