I am really struggling to feed Cally. She is heavy and I struggle to hold her, especially if she is doing her usual trick of pushing against me with her feet. I usually feed her lying down but that isn't really practical when we are out (though it would be fun lol). I never really had this problem with Seren as she was smaller then Cally and by the time she was the weight Cally is now she was sitting up great and able to support herself, Cally can sit up but not for that long. I usually hold her in a cradle hold with her body going across my body supported by the arm on the same side as what she is feeding from if that makes any sense.

I have since birth fed my LO laid across a cushion on my lap. It means both of my arms are free (great for cutting nails while they're distracted  ) and the extra height means you're not having to stoop forward giving you a bad back.

When DD got older, I always fed her with one knee up with my foot on the chair/sofa which supported the head on my boob. I can't think how else to describe it but it meant the weight wasn't on my arms and I had my hands free to read/change channels etc.

I prop my foot up too so that his head is on my knee and I'm hunched over slightly to get down to him, or I use the wrap to support the weight of his bum and that makes it easier to just support his head in the crook of my arm. I don't know how to describe it really.. I put it on as if I was about to do a FWCC but then put him in sideways and just tighten it around his back and legs and support his top half with the arm on the side I'm feeding him.

It's his length I struggle with if I'm feeding him on a normal chair (rather than on a bed, or couch at home where I lean him on the arm) because hips are about level with the edge of my leg. Then his legs stretch right out so he's kind of dangling and it makes him feel heavier.

I make a figure 4 with my legs and prop lil miss on the highest part... if shes being particularily difficult, I either trap her legs in the hole I make with my legs or sit normally and turn her round, sorta like the rugby ball hold, only she lies perpendicular/at right angles to me. :D then she can kick an fuss as much as she wants...

I lie Alex on a cushion across my lap.
