I know this has probably come up before and I've been told not to diet whilst breast feeding but surely if I give up the 5 kitkats a day :rotfl: ......... that I don't really need and eat more healthily the weight should drop off naturally and not affect but rather boost milk production?? I drink whole milk at the moment and wonder if its safe to go on semi -skimmedtoo. I dont want to calorie count right now or eat like a pidgeon, but just cut out the crap and eat lots of meat, fish, veg and fruit or should I really have to wait until I stop breastfeeding?

Summer is almost here now and Spain is all about beach and outdoor living so I don't want to go out with my post bulgy preggy belly through my summer tops :(

I would just eat healthy rather than intentionally dieting.

You are told to eat healthy is you are breastfeeding anyway but I wouldn't suggest dieting as you need extra calories to make the milk ;)

sw have a special healthy eating plan for breastfeeding and preggy woman, go to your local meeting and take a peep

i breastfeed and am at WW, you get 10 points if ur breastfeeding exclusively, and 5 points if your breastfeeding supplmenting with solids.

But... personally i wouldnt worry too...

Just eat lots of meat fish and veg and fruit etc.. try to make sure things are lean, but dont cut out on things... if id of eaten healthily id of been thin... its just about making the right food choices whilst your feeding as opposed to dieting...

no its perfectly safe to eat healthily while BFing- giving up "5 kitkats a day" and switching to semi-skimmed milk is fine.

Hiya, you can have 1500 calories a day if your breastfeeding and want to loose weight, or alternatively go to weight watchers and lose the few pound you need too - its a safe and a good meal plan.

Hi

I am breastfeeding and how i lost weight is a basically eat only when hungry ( well except rececently ) :wall: and healthy stuff but it did work and i still got tons of milk for my little man . :)

Full fat milk is actually less healthy than skimmed or semi skimmed milk. The same amount of semi/skimmed milk has more calcium in it than the same amount of full fat milk and thats what you really should be drinking the milk for... :)

Make simple changes... eat wholemeal bread, and make sure you have breakfast every morning, with oats in it as they boost milk production and fill you up... and well 5 kitkats might not help the whole diet thing.. :rotfl:

Thanks for your replies ladies.. :D
