Ok so my friend had her baby on saturday by emergency c section, she is trying with all her might to breast feed, but her milk doesnt appear to have come yet, anyone any suggestions?

Is she doing lots of skin to skin, literally lie in bed no top on and let baby lie, nuzzle her boobs. Milk coming in is triggered by hormones

The nct also have a breast feeding helpline that's open till 10pm their number is on their site they may be able to help

I've also heard eating oats is good for milk supply. Fx for her xx

The milk probably won't come in yet so that's not abnormal.

I had my baby on the Sunday and my milk came in on the Thursday/Friday.

It's important she lets the baby suckle a lot and skin to skin like sue says

fair play thanks ladies, i know she's trying everytime baby wants to feed, also she's got a breast pump too that she's been advised to try every couple of hours or so

Milk can take anywhere between 2-7days to come in but the only way it will come in is to stimulate the breasts frequently ie let Lo nuckle as often as they want and if she's desperate to speed it up then to express in between but probably better to hand express and then if she gets any colustrum it can go to Lo rather than being lost in expressing set as its so thick. Plus skin to skin for all the hours she can spare.

My labour ended in emergency section and then baby was tongue tied also. My milk took 5 days to come in, was a nightmare. I just had to pump constantly, without pumping not sure if it would've come in at all! She'll get there, just gotta keep going, and lots of skin to skin with baby also will help xxx
