ive just started giving jack solids in the morning and tried banana but i dont think it agreed with him...had black bits in his poo for 2 days! ive stopped giving it to him and will see if it clears up but need some ideas for what to give him for brekki, he doesnt like the dry packet stuff and i dont really want to use jars so other than fruit what else can i give him?

porridge. you can get jars of it or you could make you're own

so can i just buy normal porridge oats or does it have to be baby stuff?

i think ready break is ok to give them.

I have been looking for ideas for breakfast too. My girl is about the same age as Jack and the problem I have found is that most of the porridge type things seem to have gluten in. Is it really that important to avoid it? It seems to be but then I get confused as packets of stuff containing gluten (and milk too) say they are suitable from 4 to 6 months of age. Confusing or what?! What do you reckon? I have been avoiding all the stuff the guides say they shouldnt have.

Forgot to add that I think I read on here once that its totally normal for banana to have that effect on babypoo. It makes it look like it has black string in it, is that right?

yeah it is like black string! glad its normal cos i was getting worried! but still think i will avoid it for a little bit. i gave him porridge from a jar this morning which he really liked so i might give him that until 6 months, maybe add some bannana or apple to it aswell, then im gonna give him weetabix or ready break.

Ellie loves the Organix Banana Porridge (which is gluten free). Also she really like the Hipp Organic Banana, Apple and Orange cereal, also gluten free. She gets really excited when we mix it up.
