Anyone know anything about having one done?My mum and stepdad have both had them done. My mum because her chin went numb and the gp noticed she had more strength in one side of her body than the other (she's fine, think it was stress related). My stepdad because he gets really bad 'pressure' headaches, which is something to do with one of the tubes in his ears if I remember correctly.
I think that you feel a little claustrophobic when you have them done, but it's fine (from what I gathered).

I had a bran scan 3 weeks ago when they thot I had a haeomorrage, it turned out to be meningitis. 
It's nothing, its called a "CT scan" you just lie down, then it takes u up inside a machine and takes loads of pics, the machine is huge and scary, but nothing to it at all.

Well, there's a waiting list of 58 days at hte mo. so I guess it will be November some time.
The letter I got from the docs. says I could book my appointment online so entered all my details then for it to say I can't do it online & to phone
I phoned & was put on hold for about 10 mins to then be told that as I had tried to book online it locks my details so I would have to phone back tomorrow Grrrrr Great technology, when it works

I've had a brain scan but you need to check whether it is CT or MRI coz the scanner is different.
CT scan is very much like a polo mint and you dont really 'enter' the scanner whereas MRI is a confined thin tube which you slide right into. I'm not claustrophobic but you do think your nose might scrape along the top of the scanner!
They will give you earplugs coz the MRI scanner makes a very loud clicking noise - hard to explain, a bit like a pneumatic drill? And they put an alarm in your hand and if you get worried, they will come and pull you out. There is also a mirror on the ceiling so you can see everyone in the room.
My mum needed one and was very nervous and they allowed me to sit next to her and hold her hand!
Takes about 20 minutes - good luck! x

hope your okay hun keep us posted.
ive had both Mri and CT just before i got pregnnat with Kiara i never ever want to have another CT as soon as they injected me with the fluid stuff i puked it was so nasty i couldnt hold it in got it all over the machine me and the floor when they got me out . i kept saying im sorry im sorry lol

well its good news that they are checking into it at least. so often you can go back to docs a hundred times before any one actually does anything you must have a good doc who thinks its better to be safe than sorry.
phils dad had one after he had a stroke - he doesnt remember much about it though as he was pretty out of it.
i'm sure with all you've been going through with your dad its just stress related and worrying about whats casuing the headaches is prob making them worse! at least this way you'll know for certain and wont have to keep thinking up all the possible causes.
shame you have to wait so long though!
