Hi we want something traditional but not 'fashionable', different but not wacky. But also something thats not old manish or awful!

Its very hard!

So far I've come up with
Bertram (Bertie)
Peter
Edward (now struck off for becoming too popular again)
Frederick (as above)
Arthur
Ernest
Clyde
Theodore
Fraser

But none of them are quite right, any new ideas?

I know two blokes called Alistair, both get shortened to Ali which I think is also nice. Robert's nice too, you don't see too many of them about any more?
My cousin for some reason called her little boy Broderick and I can't stand that I have no idea why she called him that poor little fella.
Or Richard? George? Samuel? William?

when i was pregnant we nicknamed my bump monty and when i had DS he started off with everyone still calling him monty which at the time i didnt like and made everyone stop but looking back its quite a nice name and i should have carried on with that as a nickname. Anyway all that was to say how about monty with any number or the full length verions?

Bernard (Barney for short). This is my Grandad's name and I love it, but hubby won't go for it!

I really like Robert and Albert too! xx

I know George is quite popular but I love it! Its my dads name I was gonna call my baby George if it was a boy but shes a girl! :L Also I wanted to name him after my late grandfather Charles. His middle name was Ernest aswell! I really like Oliver aswell! :) But since Im having a girl she's being called Olivia-Grace Ann

I love the name George, it's on our list of boys names for when we get our BFP. x x

Thanks guys, Princess most of those names you mention have been on our lists at one time, as has George, but got struck off, usually for already belonging to people we know. We have a lot of cousins and neices and nephews and dont want to copy any names.

Hi

I love the names Thomas (my son's name!), Bertie, James, Robert, Alfie and George.

Good luck with picking out a name!

Hermione xx

Barnaby is cute!

I like Theodore the most out of the ones you listed. Really like Theo for short.

How about Sebastian (Seb)?

xx

I love Theodore! It's such a gorgeous name, and I think Theo and Teddy are both really good nicknames for it! I'm having a little boy and I loved that name, but OH didn't go for it! We also considered Alistair, because my grandpa was called Ali, but we think we're going to save it for a middle name either for this one or if we have another boy.

Sebastian was also on our list, and again, we might use it as a middle name! We're so indecisive!

I know what you mean about wanting something not too fashionable but not weird, or old mannish! It's so hard these days when it seems like every baby boy has one of about 10 names. I wanted something original but that didn't sound like it wasn't a real name.

I think in the end we're going to go with Caleb for our son. For me, it is everything I want in a name!

Hope you find something you love! xx
