does anybody know how to tell what they are having ie heartbeat, how they are carrying, the needle and thread i have only 4 weeks to go i would love to know just so i can buy all the bargains

there is no 100% guarenteed way of finding out the sex of your baby until it makes its entrance into the world.
Buy white! :D

Hiya,

Unfortunately the only sure fire guarantee of knowing the sex is to give birth!
scans obviously are good but as for other ways of knowing alot of them are just old wives tales. Saying that girls heartbeats tend to be faster than boys (140 or above) but for a long time my son's heart beat was above that & only dropped towards the end, so no guarantee.

Some people say they know by how they are carrying but i've known women who have carried exactly the same on different pregnancies & had both sexes.

Won't be long before you do find out though. Good luck.

my baby heartbeat has been anything from 120-150

my baby heartbeat has been between 120-130 130-140- 130-150 and is always lying on the right side

male and female heartbeat rates are different but only after birth.

i dont think there is any sure way other than a scan or giving birth i was sure i was having a boy we did the needle thing and when in labour my baby had a low heart rate i mean really low so they checked it but said it was ok the mw was like 'oh you'll be having a boy' sure enough i did! But my friend thought she was having a boy and did the whole needle thing shes just had a girl and my SIL thought she was having a boy and had a girl so i'm afraid you have to wait until labour day to find out!

even a scan isn't 100%. i know of three people who were told wrong.

were they told they were having girls or boys at their scan budge? I can't see how they can get it wrong if they see a willy :?

Are you gonna ask at your scan :) xx

Apparently hospitals have been getting it wrong for years there was a big piece in the news a couple of years ago that a lot of hospitals were starting to refuse to tell you the sex as they were being sued for getting it wrong after people had spent a fortune on pink clothes and ended up with a boy! My sister was refused when she asked and that was at a late scan, she is a slim lass and they still couldn't confirm. I'm a big lass so I didn't even bother asking!!! Apparently the longer you can wait for the scan the more chance they have of getting it right so if like us poor sods in Hampshire you only get one scan, try and delay to around week twenty as apparently good time for sexing scan.

My Mum has been spouting all the old wives tales, I'm carrying low so its a boy apparently, babies heartbeat is very fast it will be a girl according to another family member. Tried the old wedding ring on a bit of cotton trick and its a boy or a girl depending on the day I do it - Maybe I'm having a hermaphrodite!

My partner is from a male dominated family (only five girls out of twenty three over two generations - I desperatley want a little girl as well!) and as the chromosome for the sex comes from the man I guess I have more chance of having a boy.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see, but can't wait to go shopping when I finally find out, I'm going to go MAD!

My little one wouldn't open its tiny legs, so i dont know the sex of mine either. but to be honest....i think it will be a nice suprise not knowing!

yes in each case i know they were told they were having a girl and it turned out to be a boy.
its never 100% accurate. MALE AND FEMAL GENITALS LOOK VERY SIMILAR (sorry caps lock) at the 20 weeks scan.

Im not going to find out. I like surprises and in any case its not what matters. The idea of a scan is to see if the baby has got all its vital bits and bobs. To me thats all that counts really. :)

for some reason other women seem to know i'm having a boy just by looking at me..the way i'm carrying i guess! all the nurses and midwives have said it..plus ordinary customers at work..my mum and my boss said it from my scan aswell! i found out at 20 weeks its a boy so they're all correct!

plus they say you get worse morning sickness with girls..something to do with all the oestrogen!

i dont know if thats true i had morning sickness with matthew my SIL had a girl and didnt have any and then i know of 2 others that had girls one had sickness the other didnt its all a load of rubbish i think its just a case of wait and see

iv had extremly bad morning sickness with all 3 of mine (1 boy, 2 girls) though they should call it 24hr sickness that lasts 40 weeks
