Question for those of you who know the sex of your little one.

I've heard that if the babies heartbeat is below 150 bpm it's a boy and above a girl. With my DD most of the time she was about 150 and this time round it seems to be around 134.

Can any of your confirm this theory? :D

when i was in hospital the other week the midwife asked me if i was having a girl, after listening to the heartbeat & after i told her we were having a boy she just laughed & said 'there's my theory out of the window!' she said that if it sounds like galloping it's a girl, but sounds like a train for a boy.
at my MW meeting yesterday she said it was right in the middle of the two boy/girl baby speeds, OH teased me all the way home saying babies a hermaphrodite!

I think that the stuff about the heartbeat is probably a load of old poop

Babies heartbeats change depending on how active they are being at that particular moment, and they speed up and slow down in the space of a couple of minutes (or a few seconds in my case! even my MW was suprised at how much of a show off my Baby was!) Therefore you could time it twice in one day (or even in the space of an hour or something) and the count would be totally different.....

I think its like any old wives tale......its accurate for some people but not for others. They have a 50% chance of being right......

Well our baby is right for the heart rate speed so would have to believe it, but not as much as I believe the sweet/sour food wives tale... that's so true...

Well that's my theory out the window!!!! I was starting to feel certain we were having a boy. I love guessing though, it's part of the fun. We never found out when I was carrying DD and we both thought she was a boy, it was the best surprise in the world finding out she was a girl. :D

I just checked mine (mainly coz bubs is having one of its "worry the shit outta mummy by not moving" days  )
And it came in at about 140 (although I had trouble keeping count, and Im a nurse!! Mind you my patients are usually elderly so Im usually waiting for the next thud ump to come along......)
I am gonna ask my MW at my next appointment what she thinks..... we are not sure on bubbas sex so will be interesting to find out if the theory rings true....

Aye, I had a CTG done this morning and the baby's heartbeat went from 130 right up to 180 when it got irritated with the machine being held on my stomach.

I don't believe old wives tales, especially this one.

my bubs sounds like a horse galloping on my doppler, approx 155-160 beats per minute and its a boy!
i guess as far as my bump concerened that theory is out of the window!

I actually had my midwife appointment today and she is convinced im having a girl by the heartbeat and the way im carrying. Infact everyone is convinced its a girl so if it comes out a boy they will all be shocked. babys heartbeat today was 145bpm.

Only a few weeks to find out!!
