After not being able to get my little boy to latch on I thought that combination feeding of expressed milk and formula would be less stressful. Initially it was and I still have a very content little boy.

My little boy is now nearly completely bottle fed but I find it really difficult to know what he needs and sometimes he seems to require a lot. He is 6 weeks and tends to take at least 150ml every 3 hours, although he often falls asleep mid feed and wants the rest later. He was 12lb 2 on Friday when weighed and was 8lb at birth so know he is bigger than average but HV doesn't seem to be worried and I try and make sure he is genuinley hungry and hold off feeding him if less than 3 hours since last feed. At night he is taking a last feed about half nine/ ten and then sleeping six hours or so, I know babies can tend to pack it in when they are starting to go longer stretches at night.

My question is to all you ladies bottle feeding your babies, would you just feed them on demand? I have been told it's not possible to over feed but I still worry it is!

We tend to feed Riven on demand, and he has now set his own schedule kind of.

I personally think it is possible to over feed baby but what you may find is that they sick up a little bit that is just their bodies natural way of getting rid of what they don't need as long as you wind them properly though you should be fine, and dont worry about overfeeding, we tend to wind Riven every 30 ml and that seems to work for him and he doesn't up chuck.

We're having a few issues of our own with him not taking a bottle but that'll get sorted soon enough :)

Hope that helps. And try not to worry babies generally only take what they need anyway :)

X x xx

i always gave Alyssa whatever she wanted food wise, i combi feed and she isnt terribly impressed with bottles but sometimes took 8oz when she was smaller and growing. now she has 3-5 oz 3 times a day and bf's as much as she wants.

When Ralph has had enough he just pushes the bottle away. When he is full his full which a good thing so his not feeding so much his going to be sick. Xx
