What books would you recommend? I know it's early day for me but I am thinking of getting some pregnancy/birth books (amazon takes weeks to get to us!!). But there is SO MUCH CHOICE!!!

Could you recommend any? I'd ideally quite like something that's reasonably biological and shows you the foetal development each week, a bit like your tickers...

what to expect when youre expecting gets good reviews.

I bought 'Expecting' from W H Smith for £12.99 which is pretty good.

I have 'What to expect when you're expecting' which is fine but a bit much - if they had their way you'd change EVERYTHING in your life to accomodate the bump.

Hubby has 'Blokes Guide to Pregnancy' and he doesn't know it yet but the Haynes Manual for Baby for a Christmas Present  I don't know what he thinks of the former as he's only just started reading it and I don't want to put pressure on him - it took me four weeks to get him to read anything and I've only managed to do that by putting it in the toilet so I think he's just reading it to pass the time! :rotfl:

I have 'The Pregnancy Bible', which is very good and has week by week photos of the foetus as it develops, as well as lots of really useful info.

I'm getting the bloke's guide for Mr Buddabun for Xmas :)

Thanks guys, will look into those

The Pregnancy Bible is very good as is What To Expect When You're Expecting, I have both

I had all sorts of books when I was pregnant the first time. By the second time round I was such an old hack, I just looked up everything online. Cheaper too

I have what to expect when your expecting and it is good but it can go a bit overboard and possible make you worry unnessassarily.

For example...

It says that if your baby gets hicups more than 4 times in 24 hours it could be a sign that the cord is wrapped round babies neck and in distress, however Chester used to get hiccups probably 10 times a day from 30 weeks onwards and this scared the crap out of me! I even rang the labour ward in a right old state and they said hiccups as frequent as mine were normal and they'd never heard of what my book said before.

But apart from that the book was great and useful

I forgot about this becuase I panicked too as Maddison had the hiccups loads

i just ordered the blokes guide to pregnancy, for my bloke :D and a week by week guide, both from amazon, i think they are in my neighbours house now, but no one is in.

Awesome thanks. I am looking at a week by week guide and a 'what the hell to do when your baby arrives' guide
