i had a few blood tests done on tuesday. A bruse didn't show until today. Is that normal? Ive brused before with tests before, but it has never taken this many days to show!?

Also, my veins run deep in my arms - they mentioned trying different places if they couldn't draw blood from there. Where else do they try if the inside of your arms dont work (dam my 'chunky' arms!)? Ive got to have another lot taken on monday :(

Yeah bruising can take anything up to two weeks or so to come out sometimes!!

Not with my midwife..i tell you she would make a terrible vampire..

when my midwife takes my blood she always makes me keep my arm elivated after and I never seem to get bruises, maybe a tiny bit but thats all. were as when other people have done it ive been black and blue :?

ive been left with a mark down my other arm from a bruse i got once (you can't see it, but you can feel a dip if you run your finger over it). This bruse looks like someone has grabbed me. it goes quite a way around my arm.

I think it is becuase my tubby arms mean it is harder to find a vein. I might try sitting with my arm in the air to stop a bruse on monday. will see how easy it goes :)

They had to jab me 4 times on tuesday to find a vein though. they did it twice in the same hole on my right arm as well, with no luck.

The first time i gave a blood sample ( before i was pregnant in bristol ) the nurse butchered both my arms, I mean i had bruises everywhere..but my midwife took it nicely from my vein and i didnt even bruise or hurt..hurrah for sheila

its the first time they have had such problems with me. Normally my vein is low, but they can still get to it.

I asked my mum about other places to draw blood, and she said they can take it from the back of your hand (same place as a drip). oooo...

yeah sam that what my midwife told me (about the back of the hand). She couldnt get it from my right arm, so she had to try my left, she said if she couldnt get any then i'd have to go up to the hospital to get it done by the people who do it up there (sorry forgot what she called them).Luckily she got it from my left arm, and me fainting too
I had my blood taken on 14th september and i still have a visible bruise on my arm today :( .
