Blood Tests Question

I was just thinking about blood tests and when you have them.

I had a load at week 11 but I wasn't really sure what they were for. When I rang the surgery they just said normal, so I didn't ask further.

I'm now nearly 17 weeks ( put forward) and I think I've missed the next lot - downs etc...

Does anyone know when they are supposed to do these and when you get the results back??

I didn't get my booking appointment until i was over 12 weeks so I had all my bloods done at the same time.

The first lot of bloods are to test you for your blood type, anemia, STD's, HIV, rubella and something else I think. If all that is normal then there's nothing to worry about.

the screening bloods are usually done in week 16-18 and are tested for downs and spina bifida. I was told that the bloods were sent off and if I hadn't heard from the testing place within two weeks to assume they were all fine too and I never heard anything

I had some done at 9ish weeks, thought they were for lots of things but apparently it was only for thalassemia and latex/sillicone allergy (cus i was once allergic).

Today I had my first anti-natel appt and they took loads of blood to test for HIV/hep b, rubella, syph, blood glucose, rh group, antibodies, downs.
I'm now 14w 6d

i had bloods at 8weeks ish
i asked at my 16w appt if they have more and they said not until i have my GTT which is at 28 weeks...am i going to miss some out?

I'm the same as gerb. had them at 8 weeks and then don't need any more until 28 weeks

I had the tests at 8 week booking in appointment and downs/spinal bifita screaning test at 15 weeks next lot of blood tests are at 28 weeks

Have you opted out of having the downs and spina bifida risk factor tests? Or did you have a Nuchal scan?

The downs and spina bifida tests can only be done between 15 and 19+6 weeks

I had my bulk tests (lol) at 12 weeks after my scan, then I would have the Downs test at 16 weeks but I opted out!
I also have to have my thyroid tested every 8 weeks!
