Anyone's LO have / had this?

My 3 week old son has been diagnosed with blocked tear ducts. Got eye drops which are not doing much, I'm bathing the eyes regularly as advised by the doc and I'm massaging the area too as advised.

I haven't seen much improvement yet..... anyone have any tips? Success stories that didn't involve an operation? I'm so worried this won't clear up on its own.

My dd had it from a few months old. they saw her a couple of times at the hospital but by the time I got her first appointment one side had cleared. He said if the second didn't clear then they would operate but I haven't seen them since (I'm expecting to hear soon it's been 12 months) and the second seems to have cleared all together and did just shortly after the visit. She is almost 4 I'd say it cleared itself at 3. No operation needed and she is fine now. It never bothered her and it gradually got better. It was only really bad for a little while.

Thanks redhead. Did you do anything to make them clear or did they resolve on their own?

Did your dd have to use drops or it wasn't bad enough for drops?

My lo had this, we were advised to get a bowl of hand hot water with a bit of baby shampoo in as its hypoallergenic, soak cotton wool in it and press against eye for about 10 seconds and then repeat with a new piece of cotton wool. Did this a few times did each eye. My lo had sticky eyes for ages but one day it just cleared up so I'm sure it will go x

washed for a few month but then the dr said i could stop because if it was going to help washing it would have worked by now and then nothing after that xx

We had constant eyedrops for about 6 months then got referred to paediatrician who said to stop with the eyedrops as it's not an infection and to just massage them twice a day. He said he'd see her again when she was 1 but they ended up clearing on their own before then

My niece had this as a baby. My sil used to rub breastmilk on it and it really helped clear things up. Hers lasted until around 1 year but ended up not needing an op in the end as it went away on its own.
