Bleeding after the birth

Hi
I had my baby on the 24th July and bled for about 7 days on and off. Exactly 3 weeks after that I started bleeding again. I thought it was my period. It still hasnt stopped. I have now been bleeding for about 9 weeks and getting bad stabbing pains in my sides and feeling rubbish. I have been to see my doctor 5 times about this and all he says is its hormones and it will stop at some point.
Has anybody else had anything like this?

The only time I had continual bleeding was when I was on the mini pill while breastfeeding my middle daughter. It was more like 2 weeks on 1 week off though, and only started when I'd been on it a few months though. I was fine taking it while breastfeeding number 3 (except for forgetting to take it and ending up pregnant again )

It very likely is hormonal bleeding but that doesn't make it any easier! Are you on the mini pill or some other sort of contraception that it might be related to? Or if not then maybe consider going on the pill to see if it sorts things out. Sorry I can't be more help, it must be so frustrating
