Can I bleach my upper lip or could the chemicals damage the baby? My OH keeps telling me it need doing but i dont want to just in case. I use Boots own hair lightener cream but the thought of the smell makes me want to heave! :puke:

If you only want to do it cos your OH doen't like it, I would say to tell him to get stuffed, and leave it dark!!! (personal opinion mind you!) I don't know if it would be risky or not though, have a look at the packaging and see if there is a number for a careline or anything on there, they would know, and be able to advise you. Alternativly, give your doc a cal, I'm sure he/she won't mind you asking :)

Hi,

I found the following response from anotehr baord:

Is it safe to bleach facial hair using a brand such as Jolen during pregnancy?

There is no evidence that facial bleach is harmful during pregnancy. However, I usually recommend that my patients avoid all hair chemical processing during the first trimester of pregnancy, because this is the critical period of organogenesis for your baby and every precaution should be taken to give your baby the best start. If you must remove facial hair, electrolysis or waxing would be the preferred method in the first trimester

hope its useful

Thanks. Have decided after reading this that im not going to bleach it but might try lemon juice.

Not sure about facial hair but it's not recommended to bleach head hair during trimester one. You can always phone the midwife really quickly and just double check. Better safe than sorry you can always try waxing that is completely harmless.
