Ive heard SOOO many bad reviews about them saying light gets in anyway so what do you all use and does it work?

The oran will be in in our new place has blinds up (well it did, we had been there all of 5 mins when OH goes ''how do you get these flipping things to stay up'' and yanked them and pulled them out the wall   ) but its not dark enough, I was thinking of keeping them up and putting black out curtains up..but worried llight will still come in, so then thought black out blinds up and curtains but still thinking of the light

Before we had weird windows that opened from right at the top of the frame so we put 2 big black bath towels up and it was pitch black even in the height of the day, dont think we will acheive that again!

we have a blackout blind up and yes the light does still get in, we have a curtain ontop of it which i backed with an old double quilt cover and it seems to do the trick
manda xx

we use blackout blinds but I must admit that they do let some light in down the sides. :( :(

we solved the problem by also putting dark curtains up over the blinds... a bit of an effort but does the trick........

mind you - we still have an early riser :wall: :wall: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We have black out blinds in our room, I don't rate them very much as it's very light in our room in the early morning but they could just be the ones I've got.

I'm interested to hear what others think.

I think we'll either go with wooden blinds, in the hope you can angle them up and it'll be dark or just well lined curtains... might have to get help with that though, I'm no good with curtains!

Its wooden ones we have so when we get in ill elt you know how they go because will be a few weeks before we get any other sorted out anyway

i made something from blackout material and it really works...
i got some blackout and cut it just bigger than the window frame, i then got some strips of velcro and sewed one half on the material and stuck the other half on the frame,i put quite a few strips on cos i didnt want any light through at all, anyhow it cost me about a £10 and it is really, really dark, we have to put the light on before its put on.

Thats a great idea thanks Rach
lol thats ok hun! its not nice when you are woken up before the birds is it! Glenn sleeps in longer and goes to bed earlier, it doesnt take long to whip one up, good luck with the sewing.x

i have tried everything and have resorted to black bin liners stuck to the window looks awful but works a treat

i did some thing similar.... i cut the black out material slightly bigegr then the glass and use suction cups that i use on the baby on board signs and stick it to glass in each corner. no light comes through at all :D

another cracking idea, see I knew you girls would give me all your hints and tips!

I bought some blackout fabric which you just attach to normal curtains and it pretty much blocks out all the light. It costs about £15 but that was for several meters worth from John Lewis. My LO has been sleeping through a lot better since we got it. You can also buy it on ebay cheaper.

yeah thats why i made mine, i saw them but there sooooooooooooo pricey

Theres defo a market for them...you could make a cheaper version and sell em

ooo yeah you should make them and sell them in your shop!!

You know what, went up to the house today and it also has WEIRD windows that open right from the frame, so Im going to see if can just use the big black sheet bath towel as I tell ya, best black out ever!!!!! And free as we already have it! Hope window closes with it in!

Very great tips on home-made blackout blinds ladies. I shall be attempting to make my own now.

One question: do you know where I can buy suction caps from?
