I have been lucky so far in that James hasnt really been ill at all aside from one cold when he was about 6 weeks old.

Well about 3 weeks ago he got an upper respiritory tract infection. His throat was really bad and he lost his voice poor little mite. Took him the docs who said his ears were pink too. He had it for about a week. Doc didnt give anti biotics as said it was more than likely viral and attached to the fact he is teething.

Well as i say, i cleared up in about a week, DH and I have had bad colds and throats too since then. This morning he woke up and his throat is bad again. His voice is all squeaky. :( He isnt off his food or anything like he was last time but im a bit worried that he has got sick so soon after last time.

Im thinking maybe he didnt shake it all off and cos we have been ill has picked that up, or if doc is right and its associated with teething then he still hasnt cut any more teeth and his fingers are permanently in his gob (think he is getting his "fang" teeth?) so it may be that too.

Do you think I should take him back to the doctors or leave it a couple of days to see if any peggies come through and it clears up?

Has anyone else experienced their babies get sore throats etc when teething?

Ive not known mine personally to get bad throats when teething! but if your not happy Jen then take little guy back and ask again as they cant let him suffer. Its rotten enough teething as well as feeling crappy poor james :(

Joe had a spate of sore throat after sore throat. He never got anything for it and after a while I stopped taking him. He isnt so bad now but if you are ever unsure and there is ever a rash its straight to the doctors.

Strange the doc relating it to teething - never heard of that before.

I usually mentally check the following things - are they eating ok? are the drinking normally (if weaning)? are they sleeping ok? do they seem ok in themselves in general?

Usually these are the things my doc asks and if Lu is fine with all of those they don't usually prescribe much.

If you're worried at all I would go to the docs, there's no harm in getting him checked, if only for your peace of mind.
