So I do feel my story has been delayed as the days all roll into one.

I'm a first time mum and still find it hard to think that 10 days ago I was moaning and ranting that my little girl needed to hurry up and make an appearance.

At 40+2 I started having my first show I assume my plug was leaving my body slowly as this continued with a few random period cramps all the way through to the 20th when she was born. During those last days I was bouncing, rubbing my nipples, drinking all sorts and pretty much trying every old housewife tale lol

At 5am on the 20th at 40+5 I woke early as usual but with very mildly painful tightenings that were quite regular but not at all unbearable. I was booked in for sweep and reflexology with the midwife at 2pm as told oh to go to work as I'd had tightenings before that had elated to nothing. He got on his way and I had a nice bath around 11am which seemed to stop the tightenings and slowed them off (maybe every 15-25 minutes). Updated oh that it seemed to be another false start and had some lunch.

Made my way to my appt at 2pm and midwife started with the sweep. My baby had been fully engaged since 37-38 weeks so nothing had changed there, but when she reached it she seemed shocked to find I was just shy of 5cm dilated and could feel my waters bulging!!!!! She continued to sweep around and said are you sure you've not had more pain!! She went on to do the reflexology as we chatted and I started getting a few slightly more painful tightenings. She booked my induction for the following week but said there was no way I would need it and would probably end up at labour that evening.

Suddenly as I walked out it hit me that after all the complaining it was now about to happen. Called oh home as he's over an hour away and proceeded home to eat a whole pizza as my carb loading for labour. Oh arrived home by 4.45pm and started timing for me as I'd been lightly breathing through what felt like fairly regular pains.

At 5.30pm the pain suddenly intensified and I took 2 paracetamol which done nothing I may add lol... They suddenly ramped up pace to 60 seconds apart lasting 40-60 seconds and I was on my knees over the ball. Oh called hospital who insisted on speaking to me which mainly ended up in just breathing and ooohing down the phone. They said come straight in by which point I felt I couldn't move and made it to the bathroom where I honestly thought I would have baby on the toilet. I lost quite a bit of blood and we finally made it too the car where I must say I thought I was dying!!!!!

We arrived at the hospital which is 30 minutes away by 7.45pm after the most horrendous car journey of my life. Waddled into the midwife suite and got given my room. I had a midwife and student present who were worrying about urine samples whilst I was crippled over and after 30 minutes they finally assessed me after saying I thought I needed to push. They confirmed I was 9cm and they would check again in an hour. Gave me gas and air and helped me back up onto my knees. That was it I said I have to push and bested down. They encouraged and dopey as I was I said does that mean I'm 10cm lol...

After pushing and feeling the head go down and then slide back up I was crippled and just said I'm sorry it's not working. With the next push my waters exploded and covered my oh's shoes and actually made a popping noise with my push! I finally pushed out a head after them making me feel how close I was and she preceded to cry with just her head out!!!!! With one extra push she was out and up between my legs but due to a short cord they got oh to do the cutting quickly.

Ellie Mae Blake was born at 9.27pm at 8lbs exactly :)

I went on to breast feed straightaway while they injected me for the placenta but it wasn't coming out easy. 20 minutes later it came out and was surprisingly larger than normal which then caused excessive blood loss. They got me moved to a main labour room and a doctor rushed in whom then literally put his entire hand in and pushed on my outer belly which was excruciating pulling out clots. He then numbed me to do stitches and said some of the inside tears would heal on their own. They had to start me on drips and I felt really dizzy and weak for a couple of hours. Eventually I was taken off the drip and had a shower at around 4am where I was just bleeding loads and felt like I couldn't stand up straight.

I breast fed again before getting to the ward and I suppose everything after that is another story!!!!

I don't think I enjoyed the initial bonding because I felt so ill but I began to bond much more when I got home the next evening and didn't have ward staff bothering me every 5minutes.

Wow that was a long post so sorry if I bored you all :) xxxx

Aww congratulations!! Glad you are all doing well now..
The blood loss must have been scary & I understand the delay in bonding but pleased you found being at home helped with this xx

Thanks guys, wasn't sure how in depth to go and before I knew it I wrote a book lol!!!! X

Congrats hun! :)

I also had a half hour journey to hospital with my first. It wasn't too bad as long as we were moving, but whenever we stopped at lights or a roundabout it was agony!

I sympathise over the pain of having someone's hand up there fishing out clots lol. I had a ragged placenta with my first, so they had to check it was all out. I went back on the gas and air to deal with the pain! Stitches weren't much fun either, I had a 2nd degree with both labours, but the second time they were happy to leave it unstitched and I certainly wasn't going to complain lol.

Yes I had to gas and air for the doctor having a rummage especially when it's meant to be over by then!!!! The stitches were really stingy!!!!

Yes I'm almost put off going down that road!!! Hence we had date evening at the cinima that's the same place to try and make the road a happy one lol xx
