Are you planning to do/done one of these?

What kind's of things have you included (if you don't mind sharing with the group!).

I'm still in two minds as to whether we can really 'plan' what is going to happen, especially as a first time mum!

Hey! I haven't done mine properly yet but I've got some ideas about what I want to put in it. This is my 1st baby too so I don't really know what will happen. I'm not going to make it too rigid, just really put my preferences in. Some things are quite important to me, like my DH wants to cut the cord and I want skin-to-skin. The actual delivery part, I'm just going to say what I would like to happen.

I used this as a guide: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/l ... birthplan/
and theres a sample too http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/l ... irthplans/

Hiya I think it is quite important to do one if you do have preferences when it comes to the birth such as with pain relief and what you would like to happen after the birth eg breast feeding, whether you want your baby to have vitamin K, whether you want to have the injection that speeds up labour stage 3 with delivery of the placenta etc. I didn't make one with my first and I think it really does help, I know you can't plan what will happen but it does give the midwifes an idea of what you want and it saves them having to ask you questions about everything which can get a bit confusing when your in the middle of labour and also can really help you focus on what you want to achieve.
