CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF IT CAN BE DONE?
I KNOW ALFIE IS ONLY 10 DAYS OLD AND THERE'S STILL A LOT OF FUMBLING WITH LATCHING ON BUT I JUST CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT HAVING MY BOOBS EVERY WHERE  ITS FINE AT HOME BUT WHAT IF WERE AT THE PARK OR A DAY OUT?
ANYONE GOT ANY TIPS OR WILL IT COME WITH TIME?
THANKS LADIES XX

Hiya!

Yes it is very possible with a bit of practice.

My tips are
Wear a baggy T-shirt and pop baby's head under it.
A cardigan or similar is also great for pulling around to hide things.

I also sometimes used a muslin to drape gently over the baby to cover the rest.

Good luck!

let us know how you get on!

Shame Helenuk - I know what you mean!
I can assure you it's always a bit hard to get our confidence up to bf in public without getting the whole world to see! Give it a little time and try to practice at home.

I usually undo my bra, slip my hand under my top and put the cup down. Then I lay baby accross (head at boob obviously :D) and then lift my top only just high enough for baby to get milk. Use a blanket to cover up if that's easier.

Sorry I can't be of much more help, but I promise you, practice makes perfect! Try it out soon - you'll be great and surprised in just how good you are at it!

Good luck
Emilia xx

it does get easier, i promise! also you see more of your boob from your viewpoint than a passer by would, as you're looking directly down whereas baby's head would stop other people from seeing!

i normally put a thin strappy vest top under my normal top, then i pull the vest top down, undo the bra (the only thing i find fiddly is the nursing pads as they always go funny!) and position ruben. then i lift up my ordinary top, and it's almost like having a nursing top on, only i find i can be more discreet this way. (see i'm more worried about exposing my belly flab than my boob, and this way the flab stays covered up! lol)

nowadays though i don't really bother trying to be discrete, i couldn't care less! :rotfl:

I was determined to breastfeed lily public (i never dared try it with the boys) and I can simpathise.

It takes a bit of practice but is worth it in the end, I found it much easier once lily could latch on with out too much help from me.

like urchin and emilia mentioned using a blanket ect to help coverup is a great way to be discrete, also I have a baby sling and take it everywhere with me whether I'm using it or not so if lily needs feeding i just put it on and put lily inside pull the bit of cloth inbetween lily and my body down and feed her under the protection of the sling.

I've also seen something called hooter hiders that allow for discrete breastfeeding for sale on ebay not sure if i like the look of them tho.

hooter hiders :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can only second what everyone else has said, blanket or sling. When the weather is cooler I wear a vest under a wrap top or cardi so I can pull my vest up without showing my flab.

Good luck with it x

they are not as comical as they sound sadly, I like the fabrics they come in.

hooter hiders

OMG why not just take a sheet off your bed at home to hide under?...that thing is enormous!...sorry I'd rather take my chances with a muslin

Like everyone else has said, it does get a lot easier :)

I used the same method as Emilia - I unclip my nursing bra, lower the cup, then slightly life the t-shirt so Ella can feed underneath it. If I am feeding whilst wearing a vest top then I will pull the front down and hide her with a bit of muslin. Now she feeds very efficiently and is never normally on for longer than 5 mins, so it's not such a problem, but she is really nosy and will often pull off my boob!

THANKS LADIES WILL HAVE TO PRACTICE AT HOME MORE I THINK, BUT THE SLING IS A GREAT IDEA.
ONCE I'VE DONE IT THE FIRST TIME I'M SURE IT WIL GET EASIER, IF I CAN DO IT DISCRETLY INFRONT OF THE IN LAWS THEN I KNOW I'VE CRACKED IT !! :D

Hi Helen

If I'm wearing a top that I will be pulling down to get to my boob I tuck the corner of a muslin under the shoulder strap of my bra so it drapes down and I can position it to cover up anything that Olivia isn't!

Hi

I wondered the same thing in the beginning fdor me its just wearing the right kind of shirt (baggy or tub tops) are awesome in this weather, and wearing zip up sweaters they work great cuz you can hide the sides of your breast and no one can see.
You can also buy these breastfeeding pullovers now
I will see if i can find a pic of it so you can see.
good luck practice makes perfect
