Benefits for second baby

For those of you with more than one child, did your tax credits/child benefit claims go through quicker with your second baby? Im thinking that because they already have my details in place, it should just be a matter of adjusting the claims rather than starting from scratch? Just wondering what your experiences were and how long it took them to update your claims. Things are a bit tight at the moment to say the least so will be grateful when the extra money starts coming in.

I should imagine they should recalculate and amend your award within 2 weeks.

mine was done within a week, i had the extra money in my bank about 5 days after phonecall.

For Tax Credits and Child Benefit you update the claim you already have so shouldn't take longer than a couple of weeks.

Did't take long at all! I just sent the child benefit claim pack from the bounty pack with her birth certificate and it was back with me about 3 days later and sorted within a week. Tax credit was sorted straight away as they don't ask for birth certificate it's all done on the phone and they just send a new award.

Thanks for your replies girls, good to know it hopefully wont take too long then! We registered Eden on monday so I did the claims on tuesday morning...with a bit of luck I might get some news next week then Thanks ladies

Wow, just a little update. Eden was 2 weeks old yesterday and today I have received the extra child tax credit in my bank account! I cant believe they have sorted it so quick, I am impressed! Its more than I was expecting too, so really chuffed today!! No word on the child benefit yet, but I didnt expect to as they still have her birth certificate. But yay for the tax credits office, on this occasion I give them high praise!
