i am inteligent  when i need to be.. ok i cant spell though

but i was such a naughty girl at school i got no GCSE?
and im not wanting to resit them at collage

also what help do you get with money if your a student?
wuld i servive?

i get working and child tax credit at the moment what would i get if i was training to be a midwife??

hey hun wen i looked back in going bck to college i realised i couldnt affor it as i loss my benifit etc

I was going to go into this, there is alot to it, depending on which route you go (degree or Diploma). you get different amounts of money help depending on which route, and also different entry requirement,s but the same outcome pretty much. Some course offer Diploma to degree in the 3rd year if you're studying hard enough.

If you have no GCSE's, you probably can't do the degree route as you haven't got the qa=ualifications to do A levels, but you'll need to do an Access to Health course, which con be done in 1 year full time, ior 2yrs part time.

Different Uni's also have slightly different policies, and as you are 21 you can be classed as an older student.

I have tons of info on it at my house.

If you have any more Q's just ask, I know a fair bit about it on both routes as this is what i was about to train as before i got pregnant with daien, and gave it up coz i wanted to be a saty at home mum. I don't know where to start with what to tell you, so and and I'll tell!

if you come on msn (keep clicking retry if it wont let you in) and i can talk about it easier x

I am doing this when Amy goes to school, i am applying for an evening job at the hospital as assistant midwife to give me the feel of it, and also it gives you a better chance of getting on the course.

I can't wait!!

yeah, the course is SOOOOO hard to get onto, but only because of the 35 (ish depending on the Uni) students who start the course, only bw=etween 5 and 1 will finish it, it is a very tough course.

I'm too squeamish to be a midwife. Would really enjoy the excitement of it though. Infact I can't think of a more rewarding job.

Hope you go for it Dionne :)

Thats a really good idea Dionne I think you should go for it :D

Good luck with it! :D

I'd make a crap midwife - I'd just tell people 'stop moaning, it won't hurt any less', and telling people to get out of bed, frog marching them round the ward.

All the women in my family are nurses or caring jobs, something went wrong with me I think

Dionne, Speak to Fayebelina she has just got on the course she'll be able to give you more precise info.

:D

Im currently doing my nurse training (go back on monday argh!!) and also looked into doing midwifery.
You will get a bursary for doing your training, im not sure exactly how much but because you have 2 children you will also be entitled to dependents allowence. the basic bursary without children is roughly £486 a month so you should get well over £500 i would say.
I think you do need a C or above in maybe english maths and science but dont quote me that as i cant really remember! they tend to go more on experience i think as my friend has gcses but no experience in caring etc so she didnt get through the interview, she tried 3 times and gave up!
If you are really interested in doing it i would contact NMAS (nursing midwifery admissions service) and ask for an application form, also they should be able to tell you what qualifications etc you need to get on the course! Hope that helps sorry ive waffled on LOL
Heres the link for NMAS...

Hi, as Yvonne said Ive just been accepted for the midwifery course and im starting in september so if anyone does want advice either pm me or add me to your messanger id be glad to help :D

Go for it Dionne it's something I would love to do but I'm too squeamish and I couldn't cope with the coursework. I'm sure you will make a fantastic midwife, good luck!!

A girl I went to school with is a midwife (she actually helped to deliver Rubie) and she is only 24. She quit half way through her A levels and still ended up getting on the course and is now fully trained and working in my local hospital.
