Hi ladies

Isaac is 11 weeks and he's coming on really well, he holds his head up and smiles, giggles etc but he doesn't seem to be interested in toys, he goes on his baby gym and doesn't really bat at his toys, I put them in front of him and he doesn't even notice them really!

I read that at 3 months they should be batting their toys and starting to grab big things.

It's not that he can't see them because he will follow you with his eyes round the room and it's he can grasp things because if you put a toy in his hand he will hold it.

Is it normal for him not to be batting and grabbing things? xx

Every baby is different- I wouldn't even bother reading what he 'should' be doing, plus he's not even 3 months! Some things they just suddenly do one day, just enjoy every moment :) x

Lily wasn't interested in toys until recently and can only really just grab big things at 6 months hun so I wouldn't worry hun. I also think my son was nearer 4 months before he started too xxx

My lo is 14 weeks and does randomly bat at toys eg on his playgym but it is very sporadic so can't be sure how intentional it is. He has very little interest in toys and much prefers people and taking in his surroundings. He's very alert and nosey and can hold his head, smile etc so I'm not worried. I did Google it a few weeks ago and it's very common for babies not to be interested in toys way beyond 3 months xx

All babies are different so don't worry. My eldest was picking things up really quite early, probably around 10 weeks. Whereas my youngest was much later. There's things my youngest can do now my eldest didn't do until much later. They really do all develop at different rates.

I really don't remember mine being interested in toys at that age.

They would grab a finger, or hair, or glasses (LOL!) but weren't very interested in toys until around 4 months from memory.
