Hi

ALexa is just coming up to a month old and whilst not in a particular routine at the moment I am thinking ahead and in the next couple of weeks would like to start getting her to have a set time for bath each evening.

I just wanted to find out whether you think it is best to bath your babies first then feed or the other way round. Currently though if I dont feed her first she is wanting her bottle whilst I bath her and therefore not as relaxed.

I got Aimee into a routine when she was 2 weeks old and I've never looked back. We gave her a bath about 7pm, last feed of the night was at 8pm and in bed by 9pm. The first night we done it was the night she started sleeping through.

We didn't start daily baths until 6 months and we give it after her tea because she tends to be covered in food :D She has milk after this fine enough though and I would have thought you'd want to give her milk just before going to sleep so that she sleeps for longer.

I would do:-

5.30pm nappy off time (lie on change mat naked and let kick around)
6pm bath
6.15pm (roughly) baby massage
6.30pm breastfeed
7pm bed

From 6-7 weeks - then she started to sleep through!

Maybe you could split the feed if she can't wait? Or move her previous feed a little closer to bathtime? I didn't have a very hungry baby, so not sure how this would work.

Xxx

I HAVE to bath Isla in the morning as they wake her up!
Plus when trying to bath her before her feed..she would be hungry and therefore scream throughout her bath
But we tried all ways with bathing her until we decided to stop bathing before bed..then she slept better!

Mine just HAS to be different! :D

I'm planning on starting a bit of routine from tonight. DS has been settling into his own routine the past week an is in bed by 8:30 after a series of cluster feeds and sleeps till about 1am/2am so I'm aiming to do bath at 7:30 followed by baby massage and dressed for bed, then a feed and bed.

It won't be exactly on time because it depends on getting DD sorted for her bedtime and on the time DS feeds. Because he feeds every hour in the evening I'll just pop him in the bath after the feed closest to 7:30.

I would definatly bath then feed the baby rather than the other way round.
